Hydraulic Power Units
Behind every hydraulic motor is a hydraulic power unit. Hydraulic power units are considered the heart of a hydraulic system, providing pressurized flow to drive motors, cylinders, and other components. Hydraulic power units are used for a wide range of applications, including fork lifts, electric pallet trucks, scissor lift tables, mini lift tables, dump trucks/trailers, conveyors, augers, lifts, hydraulic motors, and a variety of other attachments and implements.
Hydraulic power units are available in a wide range of sizes and capacities, including micro, mini or standard size units with integrated pumps in single-stage or multi-stage operation. So how do you choose the right one for your application? There are a number of basic considerations when selecting a hydraulic power unit. First, what type of power works best for your application? Electric AC or DC powered or a combustion motor? Electric hydraulic power units are commonly used in shops and industrial settings. Combustion motor units, however, are suited for situations where electricity is unavailable or inconvenient.
What flow rate do you need? Northern Tool + Equipment has hydraulic power units with flow rates ranging from 0.5 to over 7.5 GPM and max. pressure ratings up to 10,000 PSI. It is also important to determine what reservoir capacity you need, whether you need continuous or intermittent use operation and the size of outlet and inlet ports required.
Have questions? Northern Tool + Equipment has the expert answers and advice to assist you and carries a full selection of hydraulic power units to suit every situation from top brands, including Nortrac, Haldex, Buyers Products, BravePro and more.
