  1. Can this unit be used with your 2 spool valve?

    I want to operate 2 cylinders directly from the valve.

    1. Lever activated spool valves will not work with this unit because there are check valves on both the A & B ports. You should use a P&T power unit when using lever activated valves. the P port is pressure and the T port allows the fluid to return to the reservoir without any restrictions. you should use Northern item# 47369

    2. The NorTrac Double-Acting Dump Trailer Power Unit would not work to operate a 2 spool lever activated valve as that valve requires a return to tank port. A recommended power unit for your application would be item number 47369 shown below.

  2. Can this unit be used on a dump trailer with a single acting cylinder also?

    1. Double and single acting cylinders are constructed differently. It is not recommended to use a double acting power unit on a single acting cylinder, internal cylinder damage to the cylinder could occur.
      But you may want to contact the trailer manufacturer; many trailer manufacturers use double acting cylinders on trailers where they offer single acting power units.

    2. This dump trailer power unit cannot be used with a single acting cylinder. The item #47370 would be used with a single acting cylinder. See below.

  4. Where is the ground

    1. The ground is a small hole on the side of the motor. This can be viewed in the second photo displayed on the product web page.

  5. Is it possible to rotate the pump 90 degrees so the pump can be bolted from the side but the reservoir fill is still on top?

    1. Rotating the reservoir to mount the power unit 90 degrees is not recommended. To so he Inlet filter on the pump would need to be rotated and the return to tank ports would need to be lengthened to return the fluid below fluid level. Doing so would decrease the reservoir capacity by as much as 50%. This may also void the warranty.

  6. where are the hydraulic connections

    1. There is one on each side of the unit between the tank and motor. Please see the diagram from the PDF file of the manual located on the product page.

  7. How are the hydraulic lines ran from the pump to the cylinder and where do you put a line filter at? R. Allen.

    1. The hydraulic lines would be connected to the pressure and return lines at the power unit. Routing the hoses in a secure area away from moving parts is recommended. The hose routing is determined by individual applications. A filter can be installed on the return low pressure side.

  8. Is the "B" port releif valve adjustable?

    Can the "B" port pressure relief valve be set at a higher pressure?
    From the stated 1500 psi to maybe 3,000 psi.

    1. The "A" port is preset at 2900 PSI and the "B" port is preset at 1500 PSI. The pressure cannot be adjusted.

  9. what fittings do I need for ports A and B?

    I bought this model and I need these fittings

    1. Both the A and B ports on this unit are 9/16-18 SAE O-ring ports (sometimes called a #6). Usually customers will want an SAE 9/16-18 O-ring 90 degree fitting that would thread directly into the port.

  10. How much current does the pump draw?

    How much current does the pump draw at 12VDC/

    1. This power unit draws a minimum of 80 amps at 12 volts. At maximum load/capacity, it draws 265 amps.
