  1. can the max pressure be adjusted by spring or shims? Need to drop to 1500-1800 psi.

    1. there is a pressure adjustment on block where hose threads are it has a Allen screw in the middle of a hex nut if you break hex nut loose and turn Allen screw counterclockwise that will lower pressure.

    2. The spring setting can be backed out with the adjustment screw to adjust the pressure.

  2. What type of oil is used in this unit?

    1. In warmer climates or when the unit is being used in long duty cycles, I would use an AW 68 blend. It is thicker and will hold up when temperature becomes a problem. Tractor and Hydraulic fluid with 32 and 46 viscosity should work fine for short cycle work. Make sure that the oil is contaminant free. Even oil from sealed 5 gallon buckets can have contaminants.

    2. N46 hydraulic oil is recommended for this power unit. Tractor hydraulic fluid can be used as long as the viscosity is between 15-46 CST.

  3. How many pounds will this unit hoist?

    I am looking for a unit that will hoist at least 7 tons.

    1. The working pressure says 2,900 PSI. When calculating force in lbs., you multiply the PSI X Piston surface area.

      Example: a cylinder has a 2" bore and a 1" rod diameter.

      on the Bore End, the surface area is = 3.14 sq in

      One the Rod End, the surface area is 3.14" - rod area =2.355

      Now that you know the area, multiply by the max PSI of the unit.

      Bore end: 2,900 x 3.14 = 9106 lbs of force (4.5 tons)
      Rod End: 2,900 x 2.36 = 6844 lbs of force (3.4 tons)

      to achieve 7 tons, you can use this pump paired with a 2.5" bore cylinder or higher. I would recommend higher, because you would be at the limits of the pump.

    2. This unit does not offer a weight capacity for a hoist type application. The weight capacity would depend on the hydraulic cylinder you use in the hoisting application.

  4. What is the dimensions on the reservoir?

    1. The reservoir alone measures 10-1/4" long x 7-7/8" wide x 8-1/4" high. With the bottom mounting bracket and filling cap, it is 11" long x 7-7/8" wide x 9-5/16" high.

  8. can you add additional tank to increase oil capacity knowing vent has to be addressed .I need 20 QT

    1. It is not recommended to increase the tank capacity. It would be recommended to purchase item number 53464 with a 5.3 gallon (20 liter) tank.

  9. Where is the negative connection on this system

    1. There is no ground wire to connect on this unit. The ground for the power unit is through the mounting bolts in the center block.
