Product Summary

The Concentric 12V DC power unit is used in applications where control valves are mounted externally away from power units. Flow and pressure to manifolds allow usage in many applications. Return port for returning oil back to tank. Check and relief valve. 9/16in.-18 SAE ports. Items 1076 and 1077 are for double acting cylinders; others are for single acting cylinders.

  1. Which port is for the returning oil

    1. There are two return ports. The staff answered with that and then didn't say which was which.

      The port on the top, opposite the return solenoid, is pressure out. The red plugged port on the side just below the return solenoid is the other pressure out port.

      The small hex plug below that is the auxiliary return port.

      And the port just below that is the cavity for the pressure relief cartridge. (hexagonal, about an inch long)

    2. The Haldex Power Unit has two outlet/return ports.

  2. What gauge wire is recommended for connecting this unit to the battery?

    1. Typical starter motor cable is 2 AWG.

      Starters tend to have heavy loads so draw a lot of current. > 200 Amp, worse in cold weather.

      Depending on your hydraulic load, you could get away with smaller wire, but there are no rules here other than ampacity since distance to the unit and number of connections is not known.
      So long as the motor is not seized, expect worst case of 240 amps. Typical 150 amps.
      That puts you at #2 or #4 AWG depending on temperature.

    2. The manufacturer does not offer a recommended gauge for the wire. It pulls 15 amps and is rated at 2000 PSI. The gauge wire you use would depend upon what PSI you set it at.

  3. Does the unit power up and power down?

    1. Well, you have remote control for up and down, but it is power up and gravity down.

      Activating the release solenoid just allows fluid to be pushed back into the power out port.

    1. This power unit cannot be converted to double acting operation. Northern does have a double acting power unit. See item below.

    1. This Concentric Power Unit can be adjusted. It comes preset at 2000 PSI.

      The mounting pattern is 3.76" center to center on the mounting bracket.

      The threads are 3/8-18 and are 16 micron.
