Your fluid range will vary with the amount that you use in your cylinders. (Motors if you are using them have constant fluid volume.) This unit makes a very loud whine when it does not have enough fluid in it. You should aim to keep the system 2/3 full if your volume usage allows it. Otherwise, it will need to be at least 1/3 full.
To test your volume usage, run all your cylinders back and forth until they are full of oil and the air is worked out. Then extend all of your cylinders. This will be your low fluid height. Retract all of your cylinders. This will be your high fluid height. You want the high level to still allow for some thermal expansion of the oil if you use it enough to get it hot. You want the low end to be above 1/3 full.
