Let’s start with the depth of the concrete slab necessary for a 4-post lift installation. A minimum of 4 inches is necessary for 8500-lb.–10,000-lb. lifts. A minimum of 6 inches is necessary for 12,000-lb.–18,000-lb. lifts.
A 4-post lift also requires a 12ft.–14ft. high ceiling and a minimum of 5ft. of space between the outer perimeter of the lift and any wall or other installation. To determine the total number of square feet, you’ll need to install your 4-post lift, measure the outer perimeter of all 4 posts and add 5ft. around the entire perimeter.
Also important is the space you’ll need for working under a vehicle. You’ll need a minimum of 30in.–40in. of vertical space between the garage floor and the base of the lift so you can slide under the vehicle.
