DC Powered Winches

When you need some portable, yet powerful pulling capabilities added to the front of your truck, ATV, boat or boat lift, car or utility vehicle, a DC powered winch should be right at the top of your list. DC winches can go anywhere the vehicle that it’s attached to can go. There’s no need for an electrical outlet, you just hook these winches up to the 12 Volt or 24 Volt DC battery system of the vehicle the winch is anchored to and you’re ready to get to work. DC winches offer all the portability and versatility you need in the field.

As a general rule of thumb, it is best to figure out the weight rating of the DC winch you need by first determining the maximum load you expect to be moving with your winch. Then you take that maximum load and multiply it by one and a half times to figure out the actual weight rating. The first wrap of cable around the drum of the DC winch delivers your strongest pull, with the pull capacity actually dropping with each subsequent wrap of the winch line around the drum. So, if you are debating on the winch size and capacity you need, always go big.
