  1. Can I mount this in the front of my p/u bed and connect to the truck battery with my 20' jumper cables?

    I need to pull my riding lawnmower and a 300# wheelchair up ramps and into the p/u bed

    1. Yep. I am using a set of super heavy duty jumper cables with terminal ends installed. This way I can remove the 2x12x3' mounting base strapped to cargo d-rings and take advantage of a portable unit.

    3. This winch can be mounted in the bed of a pickup. Jumper cables can be used as long as the cables are hard wired to the winch.

  2. Add to cable length?

    I plan on mounthing to rear of my trailer hitch and connect to battery. So I need to add several feet to battery leads. Any recommendations on doing this, ie splicing in 12' more feet.

    1. I had the same problem, to solve I put a deep cell battery mounted to my trailer in a box fused it and now I can use the winch with the need for my truck being there, I also use a small solar cell to keep battery charged.

    2. I have to other winches and I used 4/0 welding cable.
      they have worked just fine.. its not the length of the cable but the size..

  3. Can use with rechargeable battery?

    I have a 48 volt utility cart with six 8 volt batteries and no additional voltage regulator. Can this winch be used with only 8 volts or with a 12 Volt rechargeable battery to raise a 100# snow plow? If so, how many amps would the battery need to deliver for this light load?

    1. Do not use the winch with only 8 volts, under voltage = over amperage. You will be fine as long as you use an 12 volt automotive battery. I am using a battery that is rated for a 1/2 ton pickup truck because that is what I had sitting around my shop, and I have had no problems at all. I believe you could get away with using a smaller car battery if you had too, but I would get the larger truck battery just to be safe. Good luck...

  4. Is this winch suitable for mounting on the front of a vehicle?

    1. I would think that you would be wanting a larger winch if you intend to use it to pull you out of mud ect.i would look into a 3ton or a 6 ton winch as it would be more suitable for that app.

  6. Can I run this on a 12v ATV battery if mounted to the front of ATV?

    1. An ATV's 12V battery can power a WARN 2,000 lb winch for short pulls. However, since the winch draws 80 amps, you will need heavy-gauge wiring along with an 80–125 amp fuse. It's also essential to have a sturdy mount. Ideally, you should consider using a deep-cycle or dual-battery setup. To prevent overheating and battery failure, run the engine at a higher idle and limit the duration of the pulls.

    1. This utility winch is not designed for lifting. A hoist like item 4584189 or 4584162 would be better for the application.
