  2. I need to mount the winch on a wooden post to pull up my boat from the river. It is possible The winch could be completely under water for 2-3 days once or twice a year. Will the winch be ok?

    1. The winch is fully sealed and submersible. The winch is waterproof, mud proof and snow proof. The winch will need to be installed horizontally. It is recommended that the winch be mounted with a steel plate thickness of at least 0.25".

  3. Can this winch use a separate battery from vehicle?

    1. This winch can be used with most 12-volt batteries. It would not be required to use the vehicle battery.

  4. How is this mounted on a truck? bumper mount or receiver hitch? Do you mount them and if not who can?

    1. This winch is designed to mount to a trailer, UTV or compact SUV. It has a rated line capacity of 4500 lbs. The load should not exceed that capacity. Mounting would be up to the user. The location for mounting should be done at a solid point of the vehicle where the full rated load will be evenly distributed.

      The instructions for mounting are as follows:
      1. If necessary, drill four mounting holes (10mm in dia.), in a 10” x 4.5” pattern.
      2. Fasten the winch body to the mounting platform using the four screws, washers and spring washers.
      3. Torque the cap screws to about 35 ft-lb (47.5 N-m).
      4. All Mile Marker mounting systems come pre-drilled with fairlead holes. If you are using any other mounting platform, drill two holes for the roller fairlead installation. Position the holes so the fairlead opening hole stretches from the circumference of the drum to the end of the maximum permissible layers on the drum in the direction cable is being rolled.

    1. The amp draw with no weight will be 35 amps at 12 volt. The amp draw at 4500 pounds will be 170 amps at 12 volt.
