This Reliance Loadside Prewired Generator Transfer Switch is the safe, code-approved way to provide emergency power to your home or business during a power outage. The proper connection between a portable generator and selected circuits in a load center allows the user to efficiently and easily operate appliances such as a furnace, refrigerator, sump pump, TV, well pump, lights and more. Power can be manually transferred for each appliance independently at users choice without danger of backfeeding the electrical utility. Internal wiring compartment allows for optional hardwiring to remote power inlet boxes. Dual wattmeters monitor load in generator. Completely prewired with individual wires marked by circuit.   1. On the reliance transfer switch which has L14-30p inlet, how can I connect up to my generator which only has TT-30 R outlet? Do I need to use the cord that has L14-30 on both ends, and use an adapter that takes the L14-30 to TT-30 ?

    1. The item 49559 30 amp cord will come with a male and female L14-30 receptacles. The cord will require an adapter to connect from an L14-30 to the TT-30 plug. Northern Tool does not currently carry the required adapter.

  2. Will this switch be compatible with new generators that have the GFCI Circuit Breaker?

    1. When the transfer switch is connected to branch circuits with AFCI or GFCI breakers, the AFCI or GFCI protection will be lost when and only when the toggle switch in the transfer switch is in the GEN position. To get AFCI or GFCI protection when running on a generator power, it must be provided at the outlet(s).

  6. Cover plate for the L1430 receptacle

    Does this gen transfer switch come with a cover plate to install
    on the panel to cover the L1430 receptacle when the system is not in use? I notice Reliant panel Item# 100005, 50 A 12500 W shows a blanking plate installed when no receptacle is included with the panel. Could I purchase the cover(blanking) plate for the Reliant gen transfer switch model:30310A? Would it be available from Reliant?

    1. A cover plate for the L-14-30 plug is not available.

  7. Max watt rating

    The specification indicates a max wattage of 7500 watts. Will the panel handle a 9375 peak output generator with a 7500 continuous rating

    1. At no time should the 7500 watt maximum load rating be exceeded. A generator with a peak output of 9375 could exceed the 7500 watts depending on appliances being run at one time and start-up draw of different appliances. It is not advisable to use a generator which could exceed the 7500 watt rating of this transfer switch.

  10. what are the outside dimensions of this switch?

    It's rated 7500 watts. My generator is 8000 running watts with 10000 surge. Is this switch ok?

    1. This transfer switch would not suit the need's of your generator. Item #100005 would be the one you would want. The dimensions of the transfer switch are 13 3/4'' L x 7'' W x 4 1/2'' H.
