No they are not The little piece that sticks out from the ground plug turns in on the 30 amp and it turns out on the 20 amp. Not interchangeable.

20 amp and 30amp plugs have very similar connections, but they are not the same. The 30 amp plug has a tab that turns inward and the 20amp plug has a tab that turns outward. Below under recommendations, you can see the differences.

wireing pin out
I was looking for clarification on the pinout of this plug.. I know the l shape is ground! which pin is the neutral/common? I assume the other two would be the two "hot" lines! also how would you suggest the " ground" pin be best used? there is no information in my generators manual regarding this
thanks much1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 11 years ago
The neutral/common is directly across from the L shape. The other two are the hot lines. If you are connecting the plug and cord to the generator you do not need to use the ground lug. The plug is grounded through the cord and then the transfer switch and connects to the grounding for the house.
If you are running the generator with power tools or individually plugging appliances in, you will want to run a wire from the ground lug on the generator to the ground.
