Product Summary

The RDS Rectangular Transfer Fuel Tank is DOT Approved for transferring diesel fuel, gasoline or aviation fuel from the bed of a pickup to automobiles, heavy equipment, boats, 4-wheelers, generators, or anything else requiring fuel that you may have. Enjoy the convenience of a gas station that goes where you go. This aluminum fuel tank does not rust, which protects fuel from contamination. The tank can also be used as an auxiliary unit to provide additional capacity for a diesel factory tank with the use of an RDS diesel install kit (Item#s 3490901, 3490902 and 43748, sold separately). Diesel install kits will work with any RDS tank with a drain fitting. Auxiliary tank function is for use with diesel fuel only and is not for use with gasoline, which cannot be gravity-fed. It is the user's responsibility to comply with local, state and federal requirements pertaining to safe transportation, loading and discharging tank contents. Note: This smooth mil finished tank will have some scratch marks, which is normal and unavoidable with this finish type.

  2. Does the ht. (19") include filler pipe etc?

    1. This tank itself will be 19" tall, and the filler cap will sit 3" above the tank, for an overall height of 22".

    2. The tank is NOT 19" to the top of the fuel cap. The tank is 19" tall WITHOUT the fuel cap. The fuel caps adds an additional 3 1/2" to the overall height of the tank. I emailed RDS and they sent me a schematic of the tank.

    1. The tank is made from 0.125" thick heavy duty milled aluminum.

  4. Does this model have a place to install a sending unit in the top?

    1. The tank will come with a 5 hole flange with cover plate next to the fill port where a gauge or sending unit can be installed.

  7. Can this be used as an aux tank with an RDS Diesel install kit to uncreas truck range?

    1. Your truck will stay full until the auxiliary tank is empty. This hose is a 1 1/2", with a fitting to fit your fill line hose. It needs to be spliced into your fill line hose. This kit has a fuel rollover valve to prevent overfilling.

  8. Is the filler tube large enough for the bigger diesel nozzles at truck stops? Or is it only big enough for the smaller nozzles? Thank you

  9. Does Northerntool sell a visual sight guage or level guage for item 3490154-1206?

    Also, what is the diameter of the opening that the "Punch Plate" covers on the auxiliary fuel tank item # 3490154-1206.

    1. A visual gauge can be purchased through the manufacturer. The size of the opening for the gauge plate is 1 1/2 inches.
