    2. Yes, it will work very well on a 55 gal drum. This is how I am using it. The adapter it has threads right into the 55 gal drum bung.

    4. This transfer pump can be attached to a 55 gallon drum. The pump has a 2" male threaded tank adapter. A 40" telescoping suction pipe is included.

    Is this pump and switch weatherproof where it can stay attached to a truck mounted transfer tank and get rained on or any other weather conditions and still work properly?

    1. Yes, the system is very durable and will handle the weather well. However, like anything left in the weather for a long period, it's subject to rust and fading.

    2. This unit is designed to stay attached to a transfer tank, however you will want to keep it out of direct sunlight and avoid rain. It should not be exposed to excessive heat or humidity as well.

  3. I plan to use on a 30 gallon drum with a 2" bung and a 3/4" vent. How hard is it to remove the pump so I can use the 2" hole for filling.

    1. Easy. Just unscrew the pump from the container you have it mounted on.

    2. You would need to unscrew the bung adapter and remove the telescoping pole each time you want to fill it, if doing so through the 2" bung.

  4. During pumping does the battery providing power need to be charging?

    1. No as long as it has enough Volts and Amps in it

  5. Can the pump nozzle be used to transfer diesel to the truck carrying the tank?

    1. This pump nozzle is not recommended to transfer diesel into your fuel tank. Please view auxiliary kits item #3490901, 3490902 and 43748. These are compatible with different year and model vehicles. You will need to determine which kit is a match for your application.

  6. Will the pump pull from a 10' tank?

    1. If you mean the bung hole is 10' above the bottom of the tank the answer is "NO" only because the pickup tube is not that long.

    2. The Maximum suction lift for this item is 5'. It will not pull from a 10' tank.

  7. I will need to cut off pick up tube, is there a screen or anything on end of tube preventing this? If so, can it be removed and added back?

    Will be using in a 37 gallon tank 19" tall, I figure I will have to cut the pickup tube off to make it fit. Was wondering if there was a foot valve or screen etc on the end of tube? Will it be just a simple cut to fit or other mods need to be made due to it being a telescoping tube? Thanks

    1. Received the pump and cut the pickup tube of at approx 19" without issue. This done away with the lower telescoping portion all together and everything works perfect. 2 min with a simple hack saw. Would recommend this product to anyone tired of hauling 5 gallon cans.

    2. This transfer pump does not include a screen or foot valve at the end of the suction tube. Shortening the length of the suction tube to accommodate shallower tanks should be a simple cut. Northern Tool cannot be held responsible for issues arising from modification.

  8. Does this pump come with any 12 volt wiring?

    1. Just the pictured clamps. The lead off the pump is 5 or 6' I believe.

  9. What is the minimum size of wire required from the battery to the pump.

    I have a 2011 F350, will the aux. terminal in the wiring harness be big enough to handled the draw from the pump.

    1. I always use a 10 gauge wire so I have plenty of room to spare. I never try to undersize the wiring. I'd rather be on the heavy side when it comes to electrical wire.

    1. Red one is positive, black one is negative.
