The rugged Ultra-Tow Spring Trailer Axle with adjustable spring mounts features Fast Lube spindles that allow you to re-grease the bearings without removing the hubs (hubs not included). Stainless steel wear sleeves prevent rust from wearing on the rubber oil seal. Adjustable spring mounts offer a variety of mounting positions. Square tube steel axle is hot dip galvanized, has adjustable spring centers and can be under or over slung. Axle includes castle nuts, cotter pins and washers. Made in the U.S.A.

  1. Will this axel work, old axel info 1. Total length 71 in 2. Spring cen 53 in 3. Spindle dia 1 in 4. Bearing # L44643 (in / out) Questions. 1. Can the spring center be reduced to 53 in 2. Extra room exists TLto expand to 76 in

    1. The spring center cannot be adjusted to 53" on this axle. This axle also requires 1-1/16" inner and outer bearings.

  2. With the adjustable spring centers I would need to drill bolt holes for the mounts, correct?

    1. The sprint seats are to be welded on. You do not need to drill holes in the axle. There is a spring to help adjust the seating.

  3. I just purchased this axle and I'm in the process of installing it, On my axle the fast lube grease fitting is not in the center of the axle shaft, does it matter which way the fitting should sit when on the trailer? Toward the top, bottom, left or right?

    1. The grease fitting can be installed in any position as long as it is accessible.

    1. The square tubing length is 64.875".

  5. What type of bearings does it take

    1. The axle will use an inner and outer bearing size of 1 1/16" (model number L44649/L44610). The bearing and seal kit that works with the axle is item number 5712586.

  6. Is the length from tip of spindle to tip of spindle or just the square tubing?

    1. The overall length of the axle from tip to tip is 76".

  7. Do the saddles need to be welded to the axle ? And is there one available for 1 inch bearings?

    1. The spring mounts should not be welded. The spring mount will need to be bolted down through the bolt hole on the mount. We do not offer an option with 1 inch bearings.

  9. will this work for a 54'' center for the leaf springs

    1. This axle is designed to have adjustable spring centers that range from 55" to 61". We cannot recommend adjusting the spring centers outside that range as it could cause damage to the product and would void the warranty.

  10. Do you have a 16" wheel that would fit this axle?

    1. The axle is compatible with wheels that have either a 4-hole pattern on a 4" bolt circle or 5-hole pattern on a 4-1/2" bolt circle. The hub will need to be attached to the axle first and then the wheels would be mounted to the hub. The 4 bolt hub item number 57224 will work with the 16.5" tire/wheel assembly item number 12112.
