  1. what other parts do I need to order for complete hookup?

    Can I get everything from Northern?

    1. No other parts are needed through Mr. Heater regarding this heater. We provide the thermostat and mounting materials. Check with your local gas distributor for installation.

    2. You will need:
      1. Gas conduit, either blackpipe or flexible gas line.
      2. Appropriate couplings, elbow joints, reducers for the diameter pipe you will be using.
      3. Gas shut-off valve.
      4. The inlet pressure to the LP heater is 1/2 PSI. Most LP systems are at 2 PSI. You may have to purchase a 2 PSI-to 1/2PSI pressure reducing valve.

    3. The garage heater will include the heater, mounting brackets, thermostat, vent and gas control valve. The piping needed to hook to your propane tank outside can be purchased from the propane company that will hook up the heater.

  3. Minimum clearance Issues

    My garage is concrete block, open trusses and no insulation. Do I need to maintain the 30" clearance everywhere?

    1. The clearances are as follows: Top: 14", Sides: 16", Back: 12", and Below: 48".

  4. Can multiple heaters (2) be connected to a single supply line?

    1. Two can be connected to a single gas line, but you will need to increase the pressure to ensure both heaters are getting enough fuel to stay lit. You will need to make sure both units are getting around 11"-14" WC.

  5. Can this heater be used to hook up to an electric start, but still run on propane?

    1. This heater is not designed to have an electric start. Instructions for starting the heater begin on page 10 of the product manual found on the product webpage.

    1. This heater uses 1.13 lbs of fuel per hour on the medium setting.

  7. Do you have to operate this unit at max power? can I use an adjustible regulator to reduce the total output power?

    1. This is equipped with a built in pre set gas regulator, and includes an adjustable thermostat. This should not be used with a different regulator.

  8. Can this heater be used in garage space of 12x30 where small gasoline engines are being repaired?

    1. As long as the required clearances of 5' below, 3' above, and 24" on either side of the heater are being met, it will work.

    1. This heater will operate at any altitude as long as it is properly ventilated.

  10. CAN THIS BE SHUT OFF SO THAT IT DOES NOT COME ON BUT THE PILOT STAYS LIT?

    1. You can set the thermostat at the lowest setting, so the pilot stays lit, but the heater would not come on. If you shut the heater completely off, the pilot will go out.
