The TPI Shutter-Mounted Direct Drive Exhaust Fan is designed to exhaust stale air from rooms, barns, garages or small enclosed work areas. Mounts from the inside of the wall, eliminating the need for external framing and shutter. Totally enclosed 120V direct drive motor has 2 speeds and is permanently lubricated. 1/4 HP fan features pull chain switch, aluminum blades and steel spiral guards.

  1. Is this fan rated for outdoor use? How do you change the speeds?

    Fan will be mounted above the screen panels of a screened porch. If shutters are open and it rains, would this damage the fan blades or the motor?

    1. No. Pull-chain switch is supplied.

    2. The fan is to be mounted on an exterior wall, with the louvers on the outside. Speeds are changed by a pull-chain switch, just like on your ceiling fan.

    3. No. The air current from the fan opens the shutters. When the fan is off, the shutters are closed. When the fan is operating, the air flow and the angle of the louvers keep the rain out.

    4. The fan is not rated for outdoor use. Water would eventually damage the motor. The speed of the fan is controlled by a pull chain.

  4. Does this fan come in two pieces?

    Does this fan come in two pieces? my wall is 8 inches thick. i need to know if i will get a inside mounting plate for the fan and then a plate for the outside louvers.

    1. Yes. It is recommended to be mounted with the louvers mounted to the outside of the house and the fan on the inside. I replaced a window with mine, and modified the framing specifically for this fan. a 3/4" piece of plywood with a round hole cut into it was what I attached the fan housing to.

    2. One piece. The fan unit can be separated from the louvers, but then there would be no guard on the outside.

    Would it be able to handle paint fumes from a larger area/ warehouse to ventilated

    1. This fan has an enclosed motor and can be used for applications where it would be exposed to paint fumes; however, it is not an explosion-proof fan. We do offer item 13770 which is a 24" panel fan that is explosion-proof and can be used in paint applications, please view this item below.

  7. what is the SQ FT that this unit will cover

    1. There are several variables that factor into this answer.
      The formula used is W x L x H divided by M = CFM.
      W is the width of the room. L is the length of the room. H is the height of the room.
      M is number of minutes it takes to exchange all the air in the room.
      This calculation equals the CFM (cubic feet per minute) of the fan.
      This fan has two speeds Assuming an 8 foot ceiling and an air exchange rate of 3 minutes, the
      coverage in low would be 1000 SQ FT and the coverage in high would be 1200 SQ FT.

  9. Is this a plug in unit or is it hard wired?

    also I will be using this in a paint booth with the fan being inside a boxed unit with a filter the back end and the fan acting as the exhaust end. the trailer is 50 feet long with a clean air intake at the opposite end pushing air towards the fan. will this work?
