  1. Do the lovers automatically open/close when fan turns on and off? Would this fan work for a laundry facility behind commercial dryers to pull out hot air?

    1. The SD24 fan uses a tightly closing, gravity-assisted aluminum shutter system designed to minimize backdrafts when the fan is not in use. If installed correctly you can use this unit in the same room as a commercial dryer but we do not recommend placing the fan directly behind the dryer.

  4. I am looking for a exhaust fan to refresh the dust filled air in my woodworking shop. the shop space is 40' x60' x10'. I live in Montana so I am looking for a fan that is sealed and insulated when not in use. do you have a fan for winter conditions?

    1. This exhaust fan is not sealed and insulated to keep out the cold when not in use. We do offer a fan hood like item 28909 which would help protect this fan from snow, rain and so on though. Currently, we do not offer a similar exhaust fan that would be sealed and insulated.

    1. This product is not rated for kitchen exhaust. It was not designed to handle kitchen fumes, grease, etc.

    1. A hood can be added to this Canarm wall exhaust fan. The model EH24 fan hood would fit on this fan. Please see my link below for the hood.

    1. This is an exhaust fan. It would not create a breeze for you. We would suggest looking at an air circulation fan such as item #258741.

  10. how wide of wall can this be mounted in?

    form the inner wall to the outer wall is 8", how thick of a wall does this fit in. we are trying to find an exhaust fan to mount in our welding area. The shop is 40'x60', it would also be for exhaust fumes from our farm equipment.would this fan be a good fit?

    1. When the exhaust fan is mounted to the wall surface, the unit will extend 6" into the wall. Depending on the height of your building, this fan would provide the correct RPM needed for a building 40' x 60' x 10'.
