The Maxx Air 30in. Exhaust Fan can be used in a garage, barn, greenhouse, warehouse, and a variety of other agricultural and industrial locations to quickly remove unwanted odors, dust and humidity, and refresh stale or warm air in your space. This industrial fan is constructed of a sturdy 20 gauge steel housing with aluminum shutter louvers, a safety grille and a totally enclosed, thermally protected motor. Arrives fully assembled, just mount to your desired building wall and wire into your electrical system to complete installation. Pair this shop fan with our adjustable thermostat with firestat (XXFIRESTAT) for greater operational control and safety.

  1. Can this fan be used in a paint booth

    1. The manufacturer would not recommend this fan to be used in a paint booth. It is not explosion prof.
      Northern Tool has explosion prof fans that can be used in a paint booth (see below).

  2. Is this unit mounted in ceiling or wall and do the shutters face out or inside?

    1. The fan should be located in the side or end of the building walls away from prevailing winds. The shutters should be facing the outside. If more than one fan is to be installed, the fans should be placed evenly throughout the building so that a balanced of air is established.

    Can this fan be wired to an on/off switch with variable speed controls.

    1. If you were to wire an on/off switch with variable speed controls to this exhaust fan, it could severely damage the exhaust fan and void the warranty.

    I want to know if I have the option of reversing the air flow with a switch.if so how do the flanges stay open.

    1. Yes, when the shutters are closed the exhaust fan is resistant from the rain and/or snow from getting inside.

  6. What is the thickness of the flange area? I would be attaching it to a metal siding that has ridges and want to make sure the frame would cover them

    1. The flange is 20 gauge galvanized steel.

  7. Is 35x35 the rough opening, not including the flange? Also does air from the fan open the shutters? So it couldnt be wired as a puller fan?

    1. Yes, the 35 x 35 measurement is the rough opening, not including flange. The shutters open and close automatically, but this fan cannot be wired as a puller fan.
