The TPI Shutter-Mounted Direct Drive Exhaust Fan is designed to exhaust stale air from rooms, barns, garages or small enclosed work areas. Mounts from the inside of the wall, avoiding the time and expense of dismantling and replacing siding. Totally enclosed 120V direct drive motor has 3 speeds and is permanently lubricated. Features pull chain switch, aluminum blades and steel spiral guards.

    1. The fan motor cannot be altered for changing the air flow.

  2. Is it explosion proof?

    I want to install it in the attic of my garage to primarily help reduce heat, but also to occasionally evacuate overspray from spraying auto paint. I intend to use another certified explosion proof fan to pull out the majority of paint fumes from the paint area. This fan would be a secondary source of fume evacuation when I do paint.

    need to mount fan in bath room ceiling and push air up

    thru roof skylight ...can it be mounted horizonal and will shutters open or can I remove shutters

    1. Mounting this fan in the ceiling is OK, however the shutters would not open up in this position and I would not suggest removing them.

  6. Can I install this in a garage wall that is 2x4 studs with drywall on inside and brick on outside?

    1. The fan and shutter actually come apart and would mount on opposite sides of the wall (the fan on one side the and the shutter on the other side) even if the wall is thicker.

  7. exhaust for indoor generator

    I am wanting to run my emergency generator from inside my shed. Will this fan handle the heated exhaust coming from the generator? And yes, I plan on having fresh air coming in also.

    1. This unit would handle between 110 degrees to 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

  8. Is this designed to be installed on an outside wall?

    Just checking... This is designed to handle wind, rain, etc.

    1. This fan can be mounted on the outside of the building but would need an optional weather hood. This can be purchased through the manufacturer.

  9. Can the fan be mounted horizontally instead of vertical?

    On some fan designed for vertical mounting, the bearings do not hold up when they are mounted horizontally. Does the manufacturer indicate the fan will provide good service life if mounted horizontally?

    1. Yes this TPI exhaust fan can be mounted in any direction as long as the shutters are not obstructed. It does not void the warranty either.

  10. Can this fan be connected to a timer switch?

    I'd like to be able to leave the workshop, but still leave the fan running to clear fumes out for up to an hour after I've left. If you can wire up to a timer switch, do you still retain the ability to use all 3 speeds while the timer is on?

    1. The exhaust fan can be connected to a timer switch. This will still provide the ability to use all 3 speeds of the fan.
