  1. Can it be operated with a wall switch only or must the remote be used? Put another way, if the remote fails can it still be operated with a hard-wired wall switch?

    1. This unit can be hardwired to a wall switch. Additional controls, when used, may override the remote control. Make sure the wiring instructions from the Product Manual are closely followed for installation.

  2. How far from the fan will the remote control work. Does the remote have a timer? How big is the remote?

    1. The range for the remote is 20-30 feet. The remote does not have a timer and it is no bigger than a post-it note.

    1. The doors will open and close automatically.

  4. So these units just purge to the attic space? Doesn't look like they connect to ducting due to the R-38 doors, is that correct?

    1. The fan should be installed in your attic in a central location with in the home. It would be installed in a central hallway or at the top of a stairwell that will provide the best airflow. It would not be able to connect to the central ducting system in the home.

    1. The term "average homeowner" is difficult to quantify, but a person with some ability to read instructions, diagrams and blueprints and some basic installation skills should have little difficulty installing this whole house fan. The unit plugs in to a standard household electrical outlet so there is no direct wiring involved.

  8. What size home will this work with? Is there a formula?

    1. The manufacturer recommends using the following formula:
      Step 1 Square feet x height of ceiling = cubic ft.
      Step 2 Divide the cubic feet by 1600 CFM's = the number of minutes.
      The minutes should be a maximum of 15 minutes but the closer to 10 minutes the better the results.

      Example:
      2000 sq. ft. x 9 ft ceilings = 18,000 cu. ft.
      18,000/1600 = 11.25 minutes
