Whole House Fans offer an efficient way to reduce cooling costs by pulling fresh air in from the outside, expelling the warm air up into the attic, and pushing it out through the attic exhaust vents to create a cool and comfortable living environment.

    1. The center vane is stationary on this shutter, and all other vanes will open toward the center.

    1. A remote control is not recommended with the Ventamatic House Fan.

  3. What are the trade-offs between a belt drive and a direct drive fan

    Trying to decide between the two, but don't know the differences - performance? durability? noise? etc....

    1. In most cases, a belt-drive fan will keep noise levels slightly lower, and create less vibration which can prolong the life of the unit. The only downside for belt drive is more moving parts(belts & pulleys). Typically the upside of the belt-driven will outweigh the downside to produce a longer lifespan.

  5. can this fan be used with a timer? and is the low/high speed setting a wall switch or a pull chain on the fan itself?

    I have a house with an older fan with seperate low/high toggle switch and 12-hour timer in closet wall and on/off switch in another room. I would like to do a similar installation in a another house.

    1. This fan can be used with a timer, however it is not recommended by the manufacturer. The high/low setting is a wall switch. There are two switches. One is a on/off and the other is a high/low.

  6. Can the CXX24DDWT Whole House Fan be mounted vertically?

    1. This fan can not be mounted vertically because gravity would close the shutters and they would not work properly.

    1. This fan can not be used with a variable speed switch.

  8. rough opening to install this fan 24"?

    What is the fan mount dimension?

    1. To prepare your opening for the Ventamatic Whole House 24" fan the rough opening is 25 1/2 x 27 3/4. The Inside Shutter Dimensions are 23 3/4 x 25 1/2. The Outside Shutter Dimensions are 28 x 29 3/4. DO NOT use the dimension of the fan frame OR the inside/outside shutter dimensions.

    If so do you sell a Thermostat that is compatible ?

    1. No, this house fan operates off of a switch and is designed with a two speed motor that is not compatible with a thermostat.
