The SunStar Heating Products Ceramic Heater is ideal for spot heating or area heating of remote locations, farm buildings, shops, service areas, pump houses or other hard-to-heat spaces, providing both fuel efficiency of radiant heat and installation flexibility (not recommended for car washes). This is an energy-saving Direct Spark Ignition heater and can be controlled by a line voltage or 24V thermostat (sold separately). May require the following second stage regulators prior to the heater based on gas supply pressure: A regulator up to 2 PSIG line pressure or a regulator above 2 PSIG line pressure (both sold separately). NOT CERTIFIED OR APPROVED FOR RESIDENTIAL USE. Indoor use only. U.S.A.

NOTE: Please review the detailed Installation Operating Instructions (attached) for other specific installation requirements (gas pressure, ventilation etc) prior to purchasing the heater.

  1. How much heat is loss through the ceiling with this model?

    I am wondering if I would have to put insulation in the ceiling of my shop. It has 14 foot side walls with a concrete floor.

    1. I would suggest insulating the ceiling as heat rises and you would have significant heat loss. We have a sprayed foam insulated ceiling that was cheap to do and works great in winter for the heat in and summer to lessen the heating from the sun.

    2. The SunStar Infrared Heater is designed to heat the objects below it. When the objects below the heater warm up the air in the room will also. Of course, heat rises so any insulation in your ceiling would help to retain the heat better than an uninsulated ceiling.

    1. This unit cannot be converted to Natural Gas. Please see item #16296 for a unit compatible with Natural Gas.

    1. Our item #16342, 24 volt thermostat will work with this heater or our line voltage thermostat, item #16284 will work with it.

  6. how do know if you need regulator, i am using 100 lb tank

    1. The heater is equipped with a snap opening combination gas valve. The maximum supply pressure to the appliance is 14" water column or 1/2 PSI. If the inline pressure is more than the maximum supply pressure, then a use of an inline regulator is needed.

  8. HOW DO YOU VENT IT IF IT,S VENTLESS?

    1. This heater is for indoor installation only and is used in an unvented mode. The term unvented means indirect venting. The product of combustion is expelled into the building, national code will require ventilation in the building to dilute these products of combustion. This can be provided by gravity or mechanical means. A ventilation chart is listed in the manual for reference.
