The SunStar Heating Products Ceramic Heater is ideal for spot heating or area heating of remote locations, farm buildings, shops, service areas, pump houses or other hard-to-heat spaces, providing both fuel efficiency of radiant heat and installation flexibility (not recommended for car washes). This is an energy-saving Direct Spark Ignition heater and can be controlled by a line voltage or 24V thermostat (sold separately). May require the following second stage regulators prior to the heater based on gas supply pressure: A regulator up to 2 PSIG line pressure or a regulator above 2 PSIG line pressure (both sold separately). NOT CERTIFIED OR APPROVED FOR RESIDENTIAL USE. Indoor use only. U.S.A.

NOTE: Please review the detailed Installation Operating Instructions (attached) for other specific installation requirements (gas pressure, ventilation etc) prior to purchasing the heater.

  1. Does this heater require venting? The area I'm heating has very little air circulation

    1. As per the instructions it does require an exchange of air in the building, like a small exhaust fan.

    2. This heater would require some ventilation. The General Ventilation Rules outlined in ASHRAE GUIDE AND DATA BOOK should be observed when locating vents. Exhaust vents must be located at the highest point above and in the vicinity of the heaters and the inlet vents must be located below the level of the heaters. Local codes may require that mechanical exhaust systems be interlocked with the function simultaneously or allow control of exhausters to humidistat. See the product manual on the website for more details venting the heater.

  5. Three questions. Can this heatrr be used in an outdoor patio space? How is it mounted? Are the controls hard wired or rote?

    1. The heater is designed for indoor use only. The minimum height requirement is 17 feet. The heater is suspended from a permanent structure that can handle the weight capacity. The heater is hardwired to the thermostat.

  6. What do I need to hook it up to propane tank ?

    1. The main items needed are an approved gas line, regulator and safety shut off valve. Specifics may vary based on your local codes for installation.

  7. The description says that this heater is not certified or approved for residential use. Does that mean not in a house? or does it mean it is not for garages, shops or any structure other than a commercial or professional building?

    1. This heater is not approved in any residential application. This includes homes, living quarters and attached garages.

  8. Thermostat

    two questions. One will this run automatically with the thermostat and what is the temperature range? Two does it truly put out 130,000 btu? I have a salamander style heater that is 130,000 btu and it works perfect just to noisy, will this put out the same amount of heat?

    1. This heater does not include a thermostat, but can be connected to one, like item 16342 shown below. The thermostat will control the heater to maintain the desired temperatures by turning it on and off. The temperature range is approximately 50 degrees F to 90 degrees F. This heater does have a 130,000 BTU output and is quiet because it does not use a blower.

    1. This heater doesn't have a minimum tank size that it requires. At its highest output, this heater consumes 1.3 gallons of propane per hour.
