Product Summary

The RDS Vertical Fuel Transfer Tank is designed for transferring diesel fuel, gasoline or aviation fuel from the bed of a pickup to automobiles, heavy equipment, boats, 4-wheelers, generators, or anything else requiring fuel that you may have. Enjoy the convenience of a gas station that goes where you go. DOT approved aluminum fuel tanks do not rust, which protects fuel from contamination. The tank can also be used as an auxiliary unit to provide additional capacity for a diesel factory tank with the use of an RDS diesel install kit (Item#s 3490901, 3490902 and 43748, sold separately). Diesel install kits will work with any RDS tank with a drain fitting. Auxiliary tank function is for use with diesel fuel only and is not for use with gasoline, which cannot be gravity-fed. It is the user's responsibility to comply with local, state and federal requirements pertaining to safe transportation, loading and discharging tank contents. Note: This smooth mil finished tank may have some scratch marks, which is normal and unavoidable with this finish type.

  1. how many mounting tabs?

    it looks like there is 2 in the front and 1 on each side for a total of 4. Specifically, are there mounting tabs on the back (where the tank and cab parallel each other)?

    1. The RDS Vertical Fuel Transfer Tank has a mounting tab on each end and one tab in the middle of one of the long sides for a total of 3.

    2. The tank I just received (May 2016) had 3. If you mount the tank so that the filler neck is on the driver's side of the vehicle. the tabs will be on each end and the back.

  2. Does a filler cap come with this tank?

    One of the pictures appears to show a filler cap, but the other does not. No mention of filler cap in description.

    1. Yes it is. I've used it for that purpose.

    1. Yes, you can. I had to mine relocated to fit into my truck. However, please do this prior to filling it with fuel and also have a professional welder do it as well

    1. The tank is made from 11 gauge (0.125") thick heavy duty aluminum.

    1. The drain coupling with plug installed is 7/8” +/- past the edge of the tank.

    1. This RDS Aluminum Transfer Fuel Tank, model #72117 is not designed for marine applications. Our item numbers 349009, 349020 and 3490201 are currently the 3 options we have available that meet the ABYC certification.
