The NorthStar High-Pressure Pump features a NorthStar e300 OHV Engine with fuel injection that uses less fuel and delivers more power than a carbureted engine. The NorthStar e300 OHV engine has been independent power train authority rated as equivalent to other leading commercial-grade engines after 1000 hours of rigorous testing. This high-pressure unit is ideal for sprinkler systems, remote area firefighting and washing down equipment. The multidirectional discharge port allows flexibility in routing hoses, and the efficient NorthStar® e300 OHV engine provides up to 2 hours of run time. The NorthStar uses high-performance silicon carbide mechanical seals that outperform common aluminum oxide seals. The durable fully welded 1 3/8in. steel roll cage frame is finished with Black powder-coat that holds up to jobsite abuse.

  1. How long do the 9v batteries last while pumping?

    1 answer

    1. The 9V batteries should last more than one year. Note that the batteries are only required for the initial startup, as they assist with priming the fuel system when it is dry. Once the system is primed, the engine will start without the batteries. If the engine sits unused for an extended period, the fuel system may need to be primed again, which could require multiple pulls of the starter rope or replacing the batteries if they are depleted.

  2. How to add a remote fuel tank to the pump

    1. It is not recommended to add a fuel extender to this pump.

  3. How in the world do you drain the fuel tank? There are no instructions in the manual. The only fuel line I can find runs to the air intake assembly and disconnecting that didn’t do anything.

    1. To drain the fuel tank, we recommend a siphon or a liquid evacuation pump that is rated for gasoline. Items 89085 and 6850858 are a couple of options we offer.

  4. What is the gas cap thread size?

  5. At what pressure is the 10,550 rated? and what is the flow rate at max pressure? Is there a performance curve available?

    1. A peak flow rate of 10,550 GPH is achieved at the maximum operating pressure of 116 PSI. Currently, no performance curve has been published.

  6. It says multidirectional discharge port, does that mean you can rotate the discharge 90 degrees in either direction?

    1. The discharge port rotates 90° left or right. Cam-style quick couplers may require an extension to clear the frame.

  7. Can you provide the thread type for inlet and outlet

    1. This pump has 3in. NPT suction and discharge ports.

  8. this has a 3" discharge but most firehoses are 2.5" or smaller. Can I use a step down from the discharge into a 2.5" firehose? will that increase the distance that I can run hose? The input side would remain the 3" on a short hose pulling from a pool

    1. Reducing the outlet size is not recommended as it could cause pressure to build up inside the pump and damage it over time. Item 5819568 is a compatible 3" discharge hose for this pump.

  9. Can you reduce this pump down to a 2” intake a 2” exit or will this damage the pump

    1. It is not recommended to reduce the discharge on the pump. This will increase the pressure and cause damage to the pump. Modifications to the pump will void the manufacturer's warranty.

  10. What is the total head lift? And how much pressure out put?

    1. This pump has a maximum suction lift of 26 feet with a total head of 263 feet. The maximum output pressure is 116 PSI.
