You need a regulator. I have mine plumbed into a 350 gallon tank outside. Its the only thing on the tank right now but as far as lighting and staying lit it works great. As I said in my review it will run you out of a small room due to no thermostat.

Yes, a 20 lbs. tank is the minimum size and this would need a regulator. See my recommendation below.

can i put the fan on the small 10000 btu modle MHVFB10LP
-
Leamon· 6 years ago
I bought the fan kit for the larger one. It doesnt work on this heater. There is no place for it. I have a pedestal fan sitting where it blows across the heater on a low speed to circulate through my room.

what is better heating for a basement propane heater blue flame or radiant where the room is an office and has a sleeper area in it
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 3 years ago
These heaters are not to be used in an enclosed area or sleeping area. They need to be installed in an open area, such as a family room. There is no difference the BTU output if use the blue flame or radiant heater. The difference is in how they heat, the blue flame heats the air like a furnace and the radiant heats like the sun.

Explain please the 4500 altitude restriction, thnks
1 answer-
ProductExpert37· 3 years ago
Manufacturers of vent-free appliances typically to not recommend not using their products above 4500 –5000 FT. The higher the altitude may cause pilot outages, due to the incomplete combustion of the gas caused by the low oxygen level.

Will the heater work on a 1 lb propane bottle. What exactly is required to hook up any propane bottle or tank to the heater.
1 answer-
ProductExpert6· 3 years ago
The heater would not work on a 1 pound propane cylinder. It would require a minimum of a 20 pound cylinder. See our item #66446 for a hose and regulator to connect it to a 20 pound tank.
