- The inverter system better handles fluctuations in input power for consistent output and better welds
- Requires less input amperage, reducing the overall input power requirement by up to 25% when compared to traditional transformer welders
- Infinite voltage control gives you total control of your welding arc to get the results you want. Use this feature to dial out spatter or control the weld puddle while welding overhead
- Dual-purpose overload protection helps keep your equipment safe — protecting your machine from incoming power voltage spikes. It also turns off weld output when the machine is at too high of an operating temperature
- Quickly and easily switch from MIG welding to Stick welding and back again. Have both processes connected at once and simply switch processes by flipping the process selector switch
- Easily switch from MIG welding steel to MIG welding aluminum by removing the MIG gun and sliding in the spool gun. Then simply switch gas bottles and you are ready to weld
- The welding setup guide provides you a quick reference starting point to help you get welding quickly

Switchable Polarity?
Is the output polarity switchable for flux core wire welding?
-

Yes it is, very simple.

the mig gun and ground plug into front of machine-simply reverse the plugs

KlutchExpert11· 11 years ago
This multiprocess welder has adjustable polarity for flux core welding. For flux core welding, the welding power cable should be connected to the negative (-) weld output connection on the front of the machine. The ground cable would then be connected to the positive (+) weld output connection. This is opposite of the MIG welding setup.

Can you TIG Alum?
How come you can TIG steel and stainless steel with the TIG option but not alum?? Thanks
-
akflyer· 10 years ago
YES, you can TIG aluminum using DC and this machine. It does not give the appearance that AC does, but it actually gives better penetration and less warping. Check out youtube DC TIG Aluminum. I think you will be amazed at what can be done with a little practice.
This is an awesome welder for the price point. It welds as smooth if not smoother than machines that cost A LOT more. I love mine!

Aluminum welding is normally done with AC, while this welder operates on DC current.

-
KlutchExpert13· 12 years ago
This Welder uses DC TIG that is generally used to weld exotic material like stainless steel, nickel alloys, copper. AC TIG is generally used to weld aluminum and magnesium materials. This welder does not have an option for AC TIG.

where do you hook the ground for the spool gun?
-
WestCoastShopNut· 9 years ago
ground goes to opposite front weld lug. to attach spool gun remove connection for wire feed gun from freont of machine. Same for stick weld. consult your hand book.

KlutchExpert29· 9 years ago
The ground cable would be connected to the Negative(-) weld output connection found on the front of the unit. You would then need to attach the clamp to a metal workstation or the material being welded. Please see pages 10-12 in the product manual found on this product's specifications page for detailed installation instructions for the spool gun.

does this welder need c25 for mild steel welds, and 100% argon for the aluminum gun. or will 100% argon work for both processes?
-
Texkenusmc· 9 years ago
You need two bottles one for c25 for mild steel and 100% argon for aluminum. But what I do is flux core for mild steel so I only need one bottle. Flux just has a little more splatter.

KlutchExpert11· 9 years ago
This welder can be used with 100% argon for welding both aluminum and mild steel. Mixed gas is still the best choice for mild steel. When using 100% argon for mild steel welding, the weld isn't quite as good (multiple passes may be required) or cosmetically pleasing as when it's done with mixed gas.

Can I use a 120v adapter with this welder?
If I do use one will it damage it? Will it work?
-
Rocket1· 9 years ago
No. But there is a dual voltage version of this welder I think it's the 220dv model. It sells for just a bit more than the 220si.
