The ALC® Top-Open Benchtop Abrasive Blast Cabinet is perfect for a wide variety of surface preparation jobs such as removing paint, scale, rust and oxidation. Made of tough LDPE polymer plastic that is designed to outlast steel blasting cabinets. One-piece construction means there are no seams to leak, keeping the blasting operation contained inside the cabinet. Inside work area of 22in.W x 12in.H x 18in.D to accommodate a large variety of items. Includes trigger-controlled blast gun with 1/4in. nozzle 18in. rubber blast gloves and protective window underlay. Simply add the abrasive and hook up to an air supply and you are ready to blast. Some assembly required.

    1. To keep the line on the blasting cabinet from getting clogged, you would need to control the moisture in the air and abrasive. Make sure the media is the correct size and type and keep the system clean and properly adjusted.

  3. will this work with baking soda

    1. Soda is considered a one time pass media and should not be recycled. This cabinet is only designed for blasting media than can be recycled and should not be used with soda.

  4. can silicone carbide blasting media be used with this cabinet?

    1. Silicone carbide can be used in the blaster cabinet. Any dry abrasive that is recyclable can be used in the blaster.

  5. 3 Questions Regarding Part No. S1601

    1. How thick are the walls of the item in the subject line?
    2. How close to the inside bottom is the "drain" plug?
    3. If I want to replace the "foam rubber" seal with a more solid rubber sheet material, how thick would "you" recommend the rubber seak be?

    1. The wall thickness of this blast cabinet ranges from .188 to .200 inches. The drain plug distance up from the inside V bottom is approximately 5/8 of an inch. The replacement seal made of a neosponge material would be 5/8 inch thick x 1 inch wide.

    Is the light kit still available? It's mentioned in the video but I can't find it.

    1. Northern Tool does not currently offer the light switch for this cabinet. It would have to be purchased directly from the manufacturer.

    1. The recommended media for this cabinet would be glass bead or aluminum oxide.

  8. Does this item include the nozzle and hose and what all accessories do I need to have this machine working?

    1. This blaster includes the gloves, the gun with a 1/4" steel nozzle and hose. Additionally you will need an air compressor to hook up to the gun, the hose from the air compressor to the gun and the media that you want to use for blasting. The gun has a 1/4" NPT fitting.
