Product Summary

ALC Medium Aluminum Oxide Abrasive Blast Media is an angular, durable blasting abrasive that can be recycled many times. It is the most widely used abrasive grain in blast finishing and surface preparation because of its cost, longevity and hardness, all while creating very little dust. Harder than other commonly used blasting media, aluminum oxide penetrates and cuts even the hardest metals and sintered metals. Aluminum oxide ranges from a powder-like fine abrasive to a coarse abrasive. Aluminum oxide can be re-used several times and is typically the best choice of abrasive for a cabinet blaster. Best uses: cleaning cast iron, steel, stainless steel, removing chrome, powder coating, surface preparation, rust removal and glass etching. 80-grit abrasive for fast, hard cutting. Does not contain silica.

    I need to clean steel hood hinges of rust and paint to be powder coated. What kind of finish does aluminum oxide leave?

    1. The ALC aluminum oxide would be a good choice for your application. This is an aggressive abrasive but, it will produce a good surface for powder coating.

  6. What grit is this product?

    The 50lb bucket is listed as 90 grit. The 25lb bucket does not note how coarse the media is. Please advise, as I do not need 50 lbs and I cannot use anything rougher than 90 grit. Thanks
