Scaffolding Accessories
Scaffolding accessories can be useful for heightening the safety and efficiency of a jobsite's scaffold system. Northern Tool + Equipment carries many accessories including casters, leveling jacks, outriggers, and more. Get accessories suited to your jobsite in store or shipped to your door. Several scaffold systems on the market come with casters for improved portability and repositioning of the unit. Purchasing additional casters may be necessary when more frames are added to the scaffold system. Casters for scaffolds offer a locking feature for safety purposes.Outriggers greatly improve the stability of a scaffold tower by widening the staging. These parts are usually triangular shaped with a caster or a leveling jack as a supporting foot. Side arms are occasionally called outriggers as well but serve a hugely different purpose. Scaffold side arms are meant to hold planks that can widen the platform or provide additional workspace. If using side arms to extend a platform, be sure to install additional safety guardrails.
Leveling Jacks and base plates, like casters, function as feet for a scaffolding system. Base plates are fixed, while leveling jacks are adjustable. This difference can determine which is best suited for your jobsite. The fixed base plate will do well on any level surface, but if your scaffold needs placing on uneven or rough terrain, the adjustable leveling jack will help ensure the entire structure remains safe and level.
Pump jacks serve a similar function to side arms in that they support planks to create a platform, but the biggest feature is that they can raise with the use of a foot powered pump and lowered with a hand crank. The steel Qual-Craft Pump Jack Kit in our selection can be used to create a scaffold system with wood posts and planks and supports up to 500 lbs. Move material vertically with the use of a pulley-style hoist. Metaltech and Peerless scaffold pulleys offer contractors between 250-1,200 lbs. weight capacity as well as time saved climbing up and down scaffold towers. Scaffold hoists, like most other accessories, are attached to the scaffold framing with the use of pins. To further improve efficiency, consider adding tool trays to your scaffold framing. And finally, ensure inclement weather doesn't get in the way by having weather protection tarps on site.
