  1. 110/220V Wiring Requirements?

    Does it come with a cord+plug? Or do I have to supply the cord+plug depending on my desired voltage?

    1. This air compressor comes wired for 120 volts, and includes the cord and plug. This can be rewired for 230V by a qualified electrician.

    2. It already has a very-heavy-duty installed power cord for 115 volts. Recommend using on 20 amp circuit but will work on 15 amp though.

  2. What is the highest PSI you can set the air control regulator?

    We fill RV tires up to 110 PSI so we need the compressor to be able to meet that requirement.

    1. Yes... it peaks (shuts-off) at 135 PSI. does not turn on until it hits 100 PSI.

  3. How much time from completely empty to full?

    How much time does it take for this compressor to fill the tank starting at 0 psi (assuming that no air is being used during the filling cycle)? I'm trying to determine how much quicker this compressor will be compared to my current 20 gal. model.

    1. I tested my unit at 3 minutes and 50 seconds from 0 psig to 135 psig.

    2. The normal time for this item to come to full pressure (from 0 to 135 psi) is 4 to 5 minutes.

    3. 4-5 minuites. Real quiet while it's doing it too. But it hasn't dropped below 100 psi for me before It started running even with lots of use of an air hammer.

  4. CUT-IN Pressure Setting?

    I assume that the "Cut-Out" Pressure is set to 135 PSI; correct?
    What is the "Cut-In" Pressure set to?

    1. 105 psig.

  5. CFM?

    Does the CFM capacity go up if the motor is wired for 230?

    1. No the CFM is determined by the size of the pressure regulator fitted to the compressor - which determines how much air you can pull FROM the tank. The motor drives the compressor to put exactly the same amount of air INTO the tank irrespective of whether you wire it for 110V or 220V - the only difference is that the compressor draws half the current when running on 220V as it does when running on 110V.

    2. CFM stays the same, same RPM of motor just will draw half the amps of 110 volts

      The only results you will get from wiring it to 220V is less current draw .

  6. Oil/Filters Included?

    At the bottom of the web page, it says that you will need the North Star air compressor startup kit. Is this extra purchase a requirement or does the compressor ship with oil and filters?

    1. mine came with filters but I bought the startup kit you get oil and 2 extra filters,and it extends your warranty up to five years

    2. Some oil is in the machine however you will need to purchase at least the start up kit. It includes oil and 2 filters and ships separately. During shipping the oil does leak out form being bumped around, but it's packaged nice enough to withstand bumps and no damage to the compressor itself.

    3. The oil and filters are included with this compressor. The startup kit is the replacement filters and oil. The startup kit extends the warranty one year if it is purchased (and used) with the air compressor.

    2. Manual, no handle, a little knob that unscrews. Located on opposite right hand side of handle, which could be tough to get to if compressor is located in a tight area. Compressor is great though.

  9. Drain Location - not at lowest point

    How can all water be drained with the current location ?
    It seems you have to tip the tank while draining.

    Does not make sense to me.... am I missing something ?

    1. I just tip mine slightly and any accumulated moisture drains out. Not really a big issue since I only do this yearly on my birthday. Depending on your environment you may not have much moisture.

  10. Does this compressor hold its pressure? Does it have a check valve to prevent bleed off?

    1. It does hold pressure well, mine never kicks on when not in use. It does have an over pressure protection feature as well, though mine has never been an issue.

    2. The compressor does hold its pressure. There is a check valve that allows air to flow into the tank from the pump, but not back out of the tank. The check valve does have a small bleed line that eliminates the pressure between the pump and the tank when the motor shuts off. The small bleed line runs to the pressure switch.
