The pump can be installed "outside" but must be protected from the weather (rain/snow etc)
We also recommend that it be a "shaded" area away from direct sunlight to minimize ambient motor temperatures.

The Wayne Lawn Sprinkler Pump should not be exposed to outdoor elements. The manual does advise installing under a cover such as in a shed or the basement.

Prime fill plug
Does this pump have a separate prime fill plug at the top of the pump head for refilling when prime is lost (such as when the source is pumped temporarily dry) ??
-
philner· 12 years ago
no. when you are plumbing the pump you should allow for priming
Helpful?
-
WayneRep· 12 years ago
No, the installation should include a "tee" on the top of the pump that allows for priming. Check the video on NT's site for more info.

ProductExpert27· 14 years ago
After pump installation is complete, the pump must be primed. Remove the pipe plug in the discharge piping and fill the pump and suction pipe with clean water. Turn power to pump on. If the pump does not pump water in 10 minutes, turn off the pump and refill with clean water.

does this pump have less pressure and gph at 120 volts
-
philner· 12 years ago
No, I don't think so. It will use more dollars of electricity though

Same performance at both 120V and 240V

-
ProductExpert7· 14 years ago
Running this pump at 120 volts, you would have the same gpm and psi as running it at 230 volt.

Does the pump have a way to drain water out of it during the winter?
It will be in an enclosed area out of the elements, but this area is not heated. I am replacing a pump that froze and cracked during this winter and want to avoid it happening again.
-
philner· 12 years ago
yes it has a drain plug. I normally use compressed air to blow out all my lines before winter

-
WayneRep· 12 years ago
There is a drain port on the front bottom of the pump head. The unit cannot be subjected to freezing temps with water still in the system
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert9· 15 years ago

How many feet vertically will this pump water?
The water supply is a (above ground) fresh water tank. If I run pipe vertically, How many GPH will this pump at 40 ft.?
-
WayneRep· 12 years ago
That would be determined by how much suction lift is present and whether or not the discharge is:
Straight up or gradual
Discharge pipe size
How much pressure/volume you need at discharge?
Any other distances (horizontal) involved?Helpful?
-
ProductExpert25· 13 years ago
The Wayne Sprinkler pump will pump at the maximum 4790 gallons per minute in an application that has 0 head (meaning no rise at all above where the pump is located). Assuming that there is no restriction to the flow of the 2 inch outlet (meaning using 2 inch pipe).

What is the GPH @ 40 feet of lift?
-
philner· 12 years ago
it won't pump to 40 ft of head. you will need a different type of pump
Helpful?
-
ProductExpert41· 13 years ago
This pump is only capable of lifting water 25 feet, so 40 feet of lift is not possible.

can this pump be wired directly to a Heavy Duty extension cord ? and does it make a difference which way it is wired ?
-
WayneRep· 12 years ago
The pump is designed to be hard-wired. Local electrical cords should be confirmed before modifying the connections.
Please note that proper wire gauge relative to distance is critical to making sure pump motor runs correctly

ProductExpert9· 15 years ago
This pump should not be wired directly to a heavy duty extension cord. We recommend that customers contact their local electrician.
