Is this unit designed to exhaust HEAT/SMOKE
Im planning on using this for my restaurant kitchen. Its about a 10x16 space. Sometimes the exhaust hood doesnt pull up all the smoke fast enough, and some smoke leaks out from under the hood and into the kitchen...will this fan placed on the wall blowing outside, will it be able to exhaust the excess smoke? Heat, it gets really hot in that kitchen. Is this fan designed to suck out the excess heat in the kitchen? Thank you

I don't see any reason why it could not be used for that purpose. I used to work restaurants, so I know what you mean. There is no guard on this fan.

The fan does have 3 speeds. As long as the fan is turned on, it will help in exhausting the heat and smoke.

Installation beteen 2x6 studs
How would CE-16-DS be intalled in wall with 2"x6" studs? Would the shutter be mounted on exterior separated from the fan assembly mounted on interior?
1 answer-
ProductExpert30· 6 years ago
This TPI exhaust fan would require a 18 1/4 x 18 1/4 inch rough opening. For mounting to wood structures, use 1/4” lag screws of appropriate length through each mounting hole. The shutter can be installed from the inside wall, eliminating the need for external framing or shutters.

Does the fan motor have any oil/grease maintenance spots?
How are the shutters cleaned and oiled to keep them freely operating?

The fan motor does not have any oil or grease maintenance spots. The shutters are can be cleaned by blowing them out with a air compressor. The shutters can be oiled by simply spraying WD-40 on the hinges.

Can it be used in a wall with studs at 16inch center
Does this fan seperate like the 12inch and if so any problem with using it in a wall with studs at 16inch center. I realize there will be a small amount of blinding on either side of the fan but i can live with this for the extra cfm over a 12inch.
1 answer-
ProductExpert12· 15 years ago
The mounting dimension required for the 16" fan is 18.25" square. The fan does separate like the 12 inch fan.
