    1. Yes, this is a "surge brake" system!

    2. The Tie Down Disc Brake Kit would be considered "surge brakes". It is entirely self contained, requiring no electrical, hydraulic or other connection. The forward inertia developed when the tow vehicle slows will automatically activate the brakes.

  2. No Trailer Brakes now

    I have a 19 foot boat with single axle trailer "no brakes". Can I install this kit on my trailer to add brakes or is there more items needed?

    2. This is a complete kit. No other pieces would need to be purchased. However, you must verify that the bearings are the correct size and the bolt holes match.

    1. The actuator is designed to fit a 2" trailer ball. The item is not designed for another size receiver.

  7. Will it fit my trailer?

    I have an Aluma Trailer Model # 6810H. It has a Dexter Torsion Axle # 121589747 with Dexter Hubs. The brakes for this trailer are: The hub/drum is a Dexter # K08-247-94, The LH brake is a K23-026-00, and the RH brake is a K23-027-00.

    1. Yes, this kit will fit your Aluma trailer. The bearing sizes are the same (1 3/8" inner and 1 1/16 outer) and the tongue with matches the size of the coupler.

  8. which of your controllers would you recommend for the 10"disc brake trailer kit?

    1. This kit does not require a brake controller. because it is a hydraulic surge brake system it is the forward motion of the trailer that activates the braking not an external electric brake box controller as would be used for an electric trailer brake system.

  9. What do I need to put brakes on both axles?

    1. With this type of application, a tandem trailer braking system, the first order of business is to find out what the maximum total amount of weight you will be towing at any given time. This means adding the weight of the trailer, the cargo, and anything else...the total weight of what you are towing.

      Once you find out the total weight you will want to be sure the actuator (this is the box portion attached to the coupler) can handle the weight you are going to be towing. With the hydraulic brake kit that you are referring to it can only handle 6600 pounds, so if you are towing more this kit will not work.

      If what you are towing is under the 6600 pounds, this will work and to purchase additional brakes you will want to contact the manufacturer direct at phone number 1-404-344-0000.

      So here is the answer to your question finally, I spoke with the manufacturer and you are going to want to purchase an additional brake line kit, and two additional brake assemblies but currently we do not offer the tandem trailer additional items by themselves.
