This Reliance Loadside Prewired Generator Transfer Switch is the safe, code-approved way to provide emergency power to your home or business during a power outage. The proper connection between a portable generator and selected circuits in a load center allows the user to efficiently and easily operate appliances such as a furnace, refrigerator, sump pump, TV, well pump, lights and more. Power can be manually transferred for each appliance independently at users choice without danger of backfeeding the electrical utility. Internal wiring compartment allows for optional hardwiring to remote power inlet boxes. Dual wattmeters monitor load in generator. Completely pre-wired with individual wires marked by circuit. Indoor surface-mount design. UL listed. 5-year limited warranty. U.S.A.

  1. can the 2 240v circuits be converted to 4 separate 120v circuits?

    1. Yes, the handle ties on these can be removed to work on 120 volt circuits.

    2. Yes.  You can remove the coupling bar to make individual 120 circuits.  I did this with mine with no problem

    Can this panel be mounted outdoors?

    1. No.
      Needs to be installed inside, also better for your access.

    2. This transfer switch is not waterproof and cannot be installed outside. It does not come with a power inlet box or generator cord to connect the generator to the power inlet box but you would need one of each. The power inlet box would be on the outside of the building and would then connect to this transfer switch which would be installed inside the building near the existing circuit breaker box. Northern does carry both the power inlet box and the generator cord. See below.

  3. Can this model be used on a 5500 watt 30 Amp 4 prong plug Generator

    1. Yes, this will work well with almost any generator up to 12500 running watts.

    2. Yes, this will work well with almost any generator up to 12500 running watts. With a 5500 watt generator you will have plenty of room to upgrade if you wish, and the four wire output is perfect.

  4. will 100005 start 165939 if power go out

    1. Your generator needs to be started first either manually or with the key or remote. The transfer switch will not start your generator.

    2. No, there is not accessory that we have available that will convert a portable generator to an automatic standby generator. If item number 165939 were connected to a transfer switch to supply household power in the event of an outage the generator would need to be manually started.

  5. What type or brand to replace breakers if need to?

    1. The 15 amp circuit breaker is part #6291 and the 20 amp circuit breaker is part #6292. These are available through the manufacturer, Reliance Controls.

  6. Can this switch be used for solar?

    1. The switch will work for solar use. The outlet cannot be used with a GFCI outlet.

  7. Which is the newer Reliance model 51410C or A510C? What Circuit Breakers are included? Does the unit have a face cover option?

    1. The newer version is the A510C and will automatically come with the cover, but is not yet available. The 51410C, item 100005 is the one we currently carry. You would need to get a cover for the model 51410C, item 100005. We no longer carry the cover model CK10, item 100311. It will come with a 2 pole 30 amp circuit, a 2 pole 20 amp circuit and 6 single pole circuits.

    1. This transfer switch is rated for up to 12,500 watts. It would not be compatible with a 13,000 watt generator.

  10. can this transfer switch work for a duro max xp13000eh portable generator?

    1. This transfer switch will work with any generator capable of producing up to 50 amps of power, or 12,500 watts. It would work with larger generators as well however it would only be able to use up to a 50 amp input. Our item #100030 would be a compatible 50 amp inlet box that would work with the xp13000eh as well as other generators with a 50 amp outlet.
