This RDS Fuel Transfer Tank/Toolbox Combo with 15 GPM Pump. DOT Approved tank for transferring diesel fuel, gasoline or aviation fuel from the bed of a pickup to automobiles, heavy equipment, boats, 4-wheelers, generators, or anything else requiring fuel that you may have. Enjoy the convenience of a gas station that goes where you go. A 12V transfer pump is included and installed. A toolbox is also built in for extra storage. Aluminum fuel tanks do not rust, which protects fuel from contamination. This tank can also be used as a diesel auxiliary tank when used in conjunction with the optional Diesel Install Kit (sold separately). It is the user's responsibility to comply with local, state and federal requirements pertaining to safe transportation, loading and discharging tank contents.

  1. What's the difference between this and model 72855? Just the size of the pump?

    This looks to be the same size as model 72855, only with a stronger (15 GPM) pump. Is that correct? Or is there some other difference?

    2. The difference between RDS model #73960 and RDS model #72855 is that the pump on model #73960 is a faster (15 gpm) and stronger and slightly larger in size pump. The RDS model #72866 comes with a pump that will do 8 gpm and is slightly smaller is size, thus the 1 gallon gain in capacity as the smaller pump takes up less space which allows for a slightly larger tank capacity.

    1. The fuel compartment of this toolbox combo does not have enough room to fit a filter.

  3. How long is the fuel hose with this model?  How long are the electric cables with this unit?

    1. The fuel hose on this tank would be 12 feet long and the battery leads are 20 feet long.

  5. Will this box interfere with a fifth wheel/ gooseneck trailering system?

    1. The total depth of The Tank/Toolbox Combo is 31 inches and operation of your gooseneck hitch would be dependent on that much space being available from where your hitch is mounted in your box.

  6. How is the fuel pump wired?

    Is the pump direct wired to a spare fuse location, or does it come with extension wire and clamps to attach to the vehicle battery? And what is the length of the wire hookup?

    1. The GPI pump that is on this tank/toolbox and pump combo comes with a 18 feet of 12 gauge wire. It has a 25 amp fuse kit with it. It does not have battery clamps. You would connect to a 25 amp power supply.

  7. Does this have a fuel filter or can it have one installed

    1. The RDS Tank/Toolbox Combo comes with a Great Plains Industrial fuel pump that has a strainer but not a fuel filter. Size constraints of pump enclosure do not allow enough space for a conventional fuel filter set-up.

  8. Can this be used as transfer and auxiliary tank AT THE SAME TIME?

    I know that this tank is billed as both transfer and auxiliary, but it's unclear if that can be the case together at the same time. In other words, can I have this installed to the truck's main fuel tank while also using the pump to be filling work vehicles? Or do the ports/mechanics only allow for one or the other to be working at a time?

    1. The RDS Combo Tank could be used to perform both transfer and auxiliary functions simultaneously provided that there was fuel in the tank. (Since the auxiliary function is gravity feed, the vehicles main fuel tank would constantly be receiving fuel and the pump would need enough fuel in the RDS tank to be able to perform transfer function).

  9. Length of delivery hose

    Please advise the overall length of the delivery hose from pump to the end of the delivery nozzle.
