Product Summary

The RDS Transfer Fuel Tank is designed for transferring diesel fuel, gasoline or aviation fuel from the bed of a pickup to automobiles, heavy equipment, boats, 4-wheelers, generators, or anything else requiring fuel that you may have. Enjoy the convenience of a gas station that goes where you go. DOT approved aluminum fuel tanks do not rust, which protects fuel from contamination. The tank can also be used as an auxiliary unit to provide additional capacity for a diesel factory tank with the use of an RDS diesel install kit (Item#s 3490901, 3490902 and 43748, sold separately). Diesel install kits will work with any RDS tank with a drain fitting. Auxiliary tank function is for use with diesel fuel only and is not for use with gasoline, which cannot be gravity-fed. It is the user's responsibility to comply with local, state and federal requirements pertaining to safe transportation, loading and discharging tank contents.

    1. This RDS aluminum transfer fuel tank is pressure tested for safety and to ensure the structural integrity. Pressure testing helps identify any leaks or weaknesses in the tank before it's used, ensuring safe and reliable fuel transfer.

  2. Can the fuel pump be put on either side of the tank

    1. The transfer pump can only be installed on the accessory side of the tank. The filler neck side is not reinforced for the pump to be installed. Installing a pump on this side will void the manufacturer warranty.

  3. The filler would be opposite my truck fill point.  So then would the gravity feed point.    Can it be swapped to the opposite side?

    1. The fill port and auxiliary drain port cannot be switched to the opposite side of the tank.

  4. RDS 72770. How much weight can the bottom of the "L" hold?

    1. The bottom of the L would hold approximately 100 pounds.

  5. Can I use this tank as an auxiliary tank with a 12v pump instead of gravity?

    1. The transfer tank will come with a 2" female pipe thread coupling for manual or 12V transfer pump (not included). Or you may install a diesel gravity feed auxiliary kit also sold separately.

    1. The RDS Transfer Fuel Tank can be used as a transfer tank. A pump would be installed to the 2 inch threaded female coupler on top of the tank.

  7. To use the gravity fill kit (Item# 3490901) with this tank (Item# 3490112) does the Ford factory fuel point have to be higher than the auxiliary tank?

    1. The gravity feed needs to be lower in the Ford tank than the auxillary tank.

  8. I'm assuming that the dimensions do not include the fuel filler cap. Could you please give me the total height including the filler cap?

    1. The overall height including the fuel filler cap is 19-1/2" - 20".

  9. What are the detailed dimensions of this tank?

    ie:
    The height of the horizontal section and thickness of the vertical section.

    1. The fuel tank dimensions are 48 inch length, 28 inch width, 16 1/2 inch height . The vertical portion measures 9 1/2 width and the horizontal portion measures 8 inch high
