Product Summary

This sturdy 60-Gal. RDS Aluminum Auxiliary Fuel Tank/Toolbox Combo provides extra fuel storage that allows for increased driving range. The auxiliary tank can be used as additional capacity for a factory tank with the use of an RDS diesel install kit (sold separately). The 55in.L x 20in.W x 22-3/4in.H. Tank includes a gas cap, drain fittings, manual sight gauge, fuel filler shroud and baffles to reduce sloshing. The toolbox has a linked stainless steel lock that also secures fuel fill to prevent tampering. Two cylinders hold the crowned lid open. Aluminum diamond plate finish. DOT approved for diesel fuel. Not intended for use with gasoline. Made in the U.S.A. It is the user's responsibility to comply with local, state and federal requirements pertaining to safe transportation, loading and discharging of tank contents.

  1. Can a inline fuel filter be used when installing the hose from the auxillary tank to truck tank ?

    1. One is not needed. It is going straight from one tank to another. There is already an in-line filter for the engine.

    2. You can install a fuel filter between this fuel tank and the vehicle tank. The hose with the install kit is 5/16" diameter.

  2. is there a fuel transfer system that will fit in this box

    1. This auxiliary fuel tank/toolbox combo cannot be used as a transfer tank. Please see our item #34901014 for a fuel tank/toolbox combo that can be used as a transfer tank.

  3. Is it safe to elevate the box 6 inches ?

    1. This may be a question for the manufacturer but if you made a box frame that would support the outside dimensions and floor of the tank plus keep it anchored down, elevate it at the ends that are anchored to the truck bed, I don't see why not.

    2. You can elevate the box as long as you have supports in the middle of the box. It cannot be allowed to sag in the middle.

    1. The dimensions at the bottom of the tank is 20 inches from front to back as it sits in the truck box.

  7. Can I use this tank for gasoline?

    Most tanks I see are for Diesel fuel. Can I use Gasoline in this tank, and is it legal?

    1. This tank and toolbox combo cannot be used for gasoline. It is only to be used for diesel or nonflammable liquids.

  8. Dose this tank have a 2"NPT to install a fuel pump in order to put fuel in another vehicle?

    1. This RDS tool/tank combo does not have a 2" port to install a fuel pump. It can be used with an auxiliary conversion kit to gravity feed diesel into your truck's tank. Please see our item #3490901, #3490902, or #43748 for auxiliary conversion kits that can be used.

  9. Compatible with biodiesel (B100)?

    Is this tank compatible with 100% biodiesel? Specifically, what are any hoses, seals or other plastic/rubber type material made out of? Nitrile rubber? Viton? Other?

    1. The toolbox combo is compatible with biodiesel. The seals/gaskets are made out of a cork neoprene composite.

  10. What pump and Item # is recommended for transfering diesel from tank to truck?

    1. This auxiliary tank can be used with a diesel auxiliary conversion kit to transfer the fuel from the tank to your truck's fuel tank. It does not have a port to install a pump. Please see our item #3490901, #3490902, or #43748 for auxiliary conversion kits that can be used with this tank.
