  1. When stating the overall dimensions are you including the mounting tabs and are the tabs located on the front and back of the tank to the dimensions?

    1. The overall dimensions do include the tabs. There isn't a tab on the back (towards the front of the bed).

    2. The overall dimensions of 57" L x 21" W x 15 1/4" H do include the tabs as part of the dimensions.
      The tabs are located one each on the short sides and one on the long side which faces the tailgate. There is not a tab on the long side which faces the cab of the truck.

  2. The RDS Aux Tank model 72771 your item #3490113 I have a Chev 3500 HD with 8' bed with a rolling bed cover which limits me to a max height 13-5/16"

    I know the overall dia. states 15-1/4" and believe this is for the filler cap the rolling cover extends to the rear by 12" and would not cover the filler cap or the gauge hole. what is the overall height only of the fittings and can they be plugged with flush fitting plugs.

    1. You need to leave the vent open or you may create a vacuum on top of the fuel as it feeds. This could possibly interrupt the gravity feed, or at least reduce it until air can re-enter the tank. I put the leftover length of the fuel hose that came with the RDS Install Kit on the vent tube and placed the open end of the hose vertically up under the bed rail in the corner so the vent is higher than the tank. I secured it in place with loosely bound tie-straps to allow for fuel expansion with summertime high temperatures and for venting during feeding from the tank.

    2. The overall height of the actual tank and fittings is 12-3/4". You could plug the fittings with flush fitting plugs, however at the moment Northern Tool does not carry those plugs.

    1. According to their web site " Each tank includes a suction tube, manual sight gauge, baffles to reduce sloshing and drain fittings."

  4. Why is this tank not compatable with gasoline?

    1. It has to due with DOT regulations

    1. For commercial use, a DOT-SP 16365 permit copy can be obtained through RDS website. There is a plate located on the side of the tank including DOT approved and model number.

  6. What are the threads for the fuel cap? Wanting to replace the fuel cap that comes with this product with a locking fuel cap that matches my truck fuel cap so that the keys are the same.

    1. The RDS 60-Gallon Auxiliary Fuel Tank (Model #72771) has a 2-inch female pipe thread (FPT) fuel fill neck.

  9. Hello , Does this tank come with a Pick-up tube with 3/8" hose nipple or is it made for the fuel to be delivered from bottom port?

    1. The tank does not include the hose. The 3/8" hose would be added to the top of the tank.

  10. Can gauge be removed and transfer pump installed in its place?

    1. This RDS 60-gallon fuel tank is an auxiliary tank and is designed to be used only as an auxiliary fuel tank. To use a fuel pump you would need to purchase a transfer tank instead. The fuel gauge is not designed to be removed for a pump.
