  1. Does this idle and then ramp up when it senses a load, if so what is idle rpms?

    1. This generator has a fixed idle rpm. When I tested mine personally, it was almost 3800 rpm’s with no load.

  2. Can I run one drop cord in the house and then plug everything I want to power into it?

    1. Yes. As long as you don't exceed the 20amp. IF you do, it will trip. I generally run about 4 cords into the house. I dedicate one for each freezer and refrigerator. Then on another cord I'll put a surge outlet strip to handle tv, fan, lights, and PC.

    2. This has (4) 20 Amp duplexes and (1) 30 Amp plug. The cord plugged into the receptacle is still only capable of operating at the max amperage of that 20 Amp duplex or 30 Amp receptacle. The cord used must also be sized correctly for the operating amperage.

  3. Oil and what type

    Hello! Really jacked up that I was able to purchase one of these highly recommended models to prepare for emergencies and to keep my family safe and in comfort during power outages. Question: Does the unit ship with the correct oil for initial start-up BEFORE I drain and refill with SAE 10W-30? If not, what type should I fill unit with for initial start-up once delivered? I understand that the unit does not have oil or fuel in it for shipping. Review of the unit to follow and thanks!

    1. My unit did not come with oil. The manual gives you direction on how to fill with oil, what type of oil, and when to change it. It does come with a handy funnel which made the initial fill very easy and clean.

    2. The generator is shipped without oil. SAE 10w-30 oil should be used when the ambient temperature is between minus 5 and 85 degrees. If the ambient temperature is less than negative 5 up to 30 degrees us a SAE 5w-30. If the ambient temperature is 50 degrees to over 85 degrees SAE 30 should be used.

    1. I ran it for 20 hours as per the manual, changed the oil and will follow the schedule in the manual for the next oil change (roughly 100 hrs). Hope this helps!

    1. This particular generator has only manual start. Model number 750141 is the same generator and has electric start.

  6. Question /long term storage

    is it safe to run engine out of gas for long term storage?

    1. I run mine out of gas. Been doing that for five years. Then I blow the lines out. When I pull it out, it starts on first or second pull.

    2. When preparing this generator for long term storage, the gas must be removed from the engine (and carburetor) unless you add fuel stabilizer to the gas.
