Product Summary

The NorthStar® ATV broadcast spot sprayer comes equipped with a NorthStar on-demand diaphragm pump. Wide 14ft. spray pattern with with dedicated broadcast lance/nozzle — no boom arms to clip and break on trees or posts. Heavy droplet pattern ensures minimal drift. Separate spray gun adjusts from stream to cone. Universal spraying solution lets you spot spray and broadcast spray at the same time. NorthStar's proprietary tank design features extra-thick walls that won't bulge or sag. It stands up to chemicals thanks to a special polymer known for its superior chemical resistance. Tank is UV-stabilized to prevent fading and sun damage. Agitation kit available, Item# 28520.

  1. does it have a drain plug?

    1. Yes, there is a drain plug on the side of the unit at the bottom. After I spray and rinse, I fill the tank and then drain through the plug. It does a pretty good job of draining the liquid out, but I put my ATV on a side hill to help get it all out.

    6. This spot sprayer has a drain plug conveniently sized at 3/4 inch to attach a garden hose, for easy draining.

  2. Can I attach a longer hose?

    1. Sure. The wand and pump are attached to the hose via small host clamps, so you could use any length of hose. The only thing I could see as an issue would be the limited clearance between the broadcast arm and the tank. The more hose you wrap around the tank it may raise the position of the broadcast arm a little bit.

    2. That pump has plenty of pressure to attach a fairly long hose to it with out any pressure loss.

      I replaced mine with a 75' hose with no change in pressure or performance.

    4. Yes, a longer hose may be used with this sprayer. However keep in mind that if the sprayer wand is held higher than the level of liquid in the tank the flow and pressure of the pump may be reduced.

    6. I added 100' of hose to the sprayer to get to areas behind buildings and it still pumps fine although the hose can be a bit cumbersome to handle.

  3. Doe's the broadcast sprayer come with this unit?

    1. You get both the single head broadcast sprayer and the 15ft hand wand with seperate nozzle and hose. There is a valve on the tank that allows you to switch between what device you want to use. (one at a time) The pump has a pressure switch that shuts the pump off if the valves are closed.

    1. Mine came with a set of motorcycle style straps with coated steel hooks.

  5. What comes with the sprayer? Do I have to buy the hoses separately

    1. It came complete with hoses. A short one for the tank monted spray head and a 15ft hose for the hand spary wand.

    1. Yes, This NorthStar spot sprayer has fluid level measurements listed on the side of the tank for your convenience.

  7. Does the motor always run? or is it regulated, so it turns on and off when needed?

    1. The pump only runs when liquid is being applied through either the broadcast arm or the spot wand.

    2. It has a pressure switch that shuts the pump off when the pressure has built up between the pump and the outlet.

    3. This premium quality NorthStar sprayer features an “on demand” pump. When turned on, the pump will prime itself, then turn off once reaching pressure. When the flow continues, the pump will automatically re-start.

  8. What PSI does this unit operate at while in disperse mode?

    I understand it has a 70PSI max and 2.2GPM flow but need to know it's operating PSI in order to determine the amount of liquid being dispersed at a given speed. Needed to determine correct per acre application rate of pesticide. Thank you.

    1. it would be safe to go with 2.2GPM. i did a test with it and it is fairly accurate +- 2.2 GPM. The PSI won't change unless your battery is weakening.

    2. On this spot sprayer, coverage is determined by the height and the speed of application. There are broadcast spray calibration tables in the owner's manual, on page 38. This manual may be viewed in the PDF file link that's listed near the bottom of the description tab of this product.

  9. I am installing this sprayer on a 36 volt golf cart. How do I connect the power connections to the cart. Do I need a seperate battery?

    1. This NorthStar ATV broadcast spot sprayer will need to be connected to a 12 volt battery that is being charged while in use.

    2. You probably have 36 volts because you have 3 12 volt batteries hook in series, you need to isolate one of the batteries so you can use just the 12 volt output from 1 battery.

  10. What is the length on the power cables?

    I would like to mount this to a utilty cart & pull wil my mower. Will the battery cables be long enough??

    1. I'm not sure about the exact length of the cables, but I have a pretty good bundle wrapped up since I just hook into my ATV battery about 2.5' from the pump. Chances are your battery is in the back of your mower, so I would think that as long as the pump is within 6' of the battery you should be fine.
