Product Summary

The NorthStar® ATV broadcast spot sprayer comes equipped with a newly designed NorthStar on-demand diaphragm pump. Wide 14ft. spray pattern with dedicated broadcast lance/nozzle — no boom arms to clip and break on trees or posts. Heavy droplet pattern ensures minimal drift. Separate spray gun adjusts from stream to cone. Universal spraying solution lets you spot spray and broadcast spray at the same time. NorthStar's proprietary tank design features extra-thick walls that won't bulge or sag. It stands up to chemicals thanks to a special polymer known for its superior chemical resistance. Tank is UV-stabilized to prevent fading and other sun damage. Agitation kit available, order item# 28520.

  1. Can I use this as a broadcast sprayer on a lawn trailer that is closer to the ground?

    I am wanting to use it on a small trailer behind my lawn tractor....

    1. We made a mounting bracket and put the sprayer right on the back of the riding lawn mower. Should work fine on a small trailer, just make sure your tires can handle the weight when the tank is full.

    2. I wouldn't see why not... The broadcast nozzle hangs down about 2" or so below the bottum of the tank, your broadcast width would just be narrower. You could also rig up a mount for the broadcast nozzle to raise it up if you want the wider spray.

    3. This broadcast spot sprayer can be used on a trailer that's closer to the ground than a standard ATV rack. However, using it closer to the ground will reduce the overall spray width.

  2. Can I use this sprayer with colorants to paint Grass and Mulch?

    1. I used a colorant additive without issue in this sprayer. It just needs to be thoroughly mixed. I wouldn't use powders unless you have an agitator.

    3. Yes, it is possible to use this sprayer with colorants. As with any chemical, be sure to completely flush the pump with clear water between uses.

  3. can you run the gun and broadcast sprayers seperately

    1. Yes, the valving that is provided with this unit allows independant use of the broadcast sprayer and spray wand.

    2. Yes, there is a slight power/pressure drop, but both work great at the same time.

      I also purchased the recommended agitation kit with mine and when the agitation kit is running you cannot use the spot gun and the broadcast sprayer is cut to about 20% power/pressure. Regardless this tanks sprayer worked great! Check out my review for pics on mounting to a zero turn mower.

    3. Yes you can. The broadcast nozzle is turned on by turning a valve handle and the wand is activated by a thumb control. Once the broadcast nozzle is turned on it will not shut off until you have closed the valve.

  4. Is a battery included with the 12 volt sprayers?

    1. The sprayers do not come with a battery since you will be using the 12 volt battery on your atv or garden tractor.

    2. No, you use the battery on your ATV. It comes with a cable with alligator type clips for clipping onto your battery terminals.

    3. No.The power leads have clamps that connect to a 12VDC battery( not included).

  5. can i mount this to a zero turn mower

    1. yes.. I had to make a bracket for my John Deere

    2. Our NorthStar spot sprayers could be mounted to various types of equipment. It would require a spot large enough to fit the sprayer(34"L x 14-1/2"W) with means to secure it, usually with tie down straps. You would also need access to a 12 volt power source which most ofter would come from the battery on the mower itself.

    Is a replacement Broadcast Lance/Nozzle available for this sprayer? THANKS!

    1. Yes. Mine broke and I had to purchase a replacement. It started leaking at one of the fittings. I called the number given to me by Northern Tool and purchased a new lance.

  7. When using the broadcast sprayer, does it run continuously? or is there a stop start switch?

    how far does the spot sprayer wand shoot?

    1. There is a start/stop switch for the broadcast sprayer. I got about an 8 - 10 foot spray with the wand.

    2. This broadcast spot sprayer includes an on/off switch located on the battery connection cable. The spot sprayer wand shoots a 19 foot stream.

  8. liquid fertilizer

    Can I run liquid fertilizer thru this unit? I would like to run liquid nitrogen thur it to spay on sweet corn.Also i would like to mix colorent dye in it so i can see where it sprayed.

    1. Just last week I used liquid fertilizer through this sprayer for my lawn. It worked great!

    2. This broadcast spot sprayer is rated for both fertilizer and pesticides. However, after using either; it's very improbable that you'll completely remove the residual liquid even after rinsing or washing it out. Therefore, it's not recommended that you use the same sprayer for both fertilizer and pesticides. This sprayer cannot be used for liquid nitrogen. Using colorant dye is fine as long as the sprayer is properly rinsed and cleaned out afterwards to avoid allowing the dye to dry inside any of the sprayer components.

  9. Can the broadcast nozzle be turned to spray to the side and up for spraying vertical vegetation on the side of a trail?

    1. Yes, it can. I use mine to do this on ATV trails on my property.

    2. This spot sprayer's broadcast nozzle is intended to be used for a downward spray pattern. However, the nozzle can be rotated to achieve spray patterns to the side or even up.

  10. WHAT BATTERY?

    Using this sprayer on an ATV (12 volt) do people set up an auxiliary battery or simply hook up to the ATV's battery?

    1. Hooks up directly to the ATV battery.

    2. Although you can use an auxiliary battery, most people simply hook up to the battery on the ATV.
