Product Summary

The NorthStar® Soft Wash and Disinfectant System delivers high-performance, low-impact cleaning to effectively remove and kill black mold, mildew, moss, lichens and dirt from roofs, siding, decks, fences, bricks and more -- no scrubbing or high pressure required. This patent-pending system uses water, NorthStar Max Cling soft wash surfactant (Item#s 81297 and 81298, sold separately) and common household bleach to create the ultimate solution for cleaning and disinfecting large areas quickly, plus this system can be used indoors to disinfect commercial kitchens, cafeterias, gyms, locker rooms and restrooms. It features exclusive patent pending Motor Armor technology to automatically shut the pump off if a leak is detected, protecting the motor from damage and allowing a quick, low-cost pump cartridge replacement. With the included fan tip and long-throw nozzles, you can quickly disinfect large areas with a bacteria- and virus-killing bleach formula, plus soft wash broad surfaces and reach high peaks, roofs and soffits up to 28ft.H safely without using a ladder. Add the telescoping extension wand, Item# 81140 (sold separately) for extending your reach up to 52ft.H. Sturdy steel frame with handle and 10in. flat-free wheels provide easy mobility.

  1. Does this unit have a misting nozzle or attachment

    1. It comes with 2 nozzles. One for spray and one for stream.

    2. This includes a fan tip nozzle and long throw nozzle. A misting nozzle is not available at this time.

  2. Will the cleaning mix using bleach kill plants in flowerbeds around the house

    If I am understanding this correctly bleach is added to the cleaning mix. This obviously will drip onto flower beds. Has anyone experienced plants being killed because of cleaning the siding on the house?

    1. Do a little more research before you begin spraying bleach on things. Yes, it's used by professional pressure washing companies and is the industry standard. You're mix ratio should be 2-3% being applied. Wet everything down first, spray your solution on, wash it all off.

    2. It is important to soak vegetation in the area surrounding the work zone prior to spraying bleach and immediately after spraying bleach. Bleach can kill vegetation if not soaked thoroughly.

  3. With tank / pump at ground level, can you be up on 10 foot ladder at gutter level with wand and achieve same pressure and spray distance?

    1. You can definitely shoot at a higher level being on a ladder. But the pump is also working harder moving the mixture verticley through the hose.
      For example, I was spraying a 3 story home and was about 5 feet from hitting the peak. Then I climbed about 10 feet on the ladder and gained an extra 7 feet of distance.

    2. You can be 10 feet up at gutter level and have the same pressure and spray distance .

  4. Can this be used for lawn applications of fertilizer and pesticides? I love the design - I’m assuming no agitation is the drawback.

    1. Although this system may work for other applications, it is primarily designed for soft washing and disinfecting. Fertilizers and pesticides may clog the strainer and nozzles, as they are not intended for this use.

  5. Can I buy a replacement cover for the tank? Lost mine in transport and to prevent splashing I need a new cover

  6. can I take 5/8 hose and replace with a 1/2 hose so the house won’t be as heavy?

    1. This system with the pump connections and gun connections, it is recommended to only use the 5/8" hose that is included with this sprayer.

    1. This does not include a battery. A Group 24 or Group U1 12 Volt battery is recommended for use with this NorthStar Portable Soft Wash and Disinfectant System.

  8. hey, will I be able to turn off the chemicals and spray 100% water to wash chemicals off the surface?

    1. The chemical is mixed in the tank with the water. You would need to rinse the tank and then fill the tank with only water to spray. The chemical and water are not separated in the tank.

  9. What is the vertical distance when spraying siding on a house? I'd like to be able to reach the peak of a 2 story home

    1. This will spray up to 28' High. For additional height, please view the telescoping wand, item #81140 and the telescoping wand tripod, item #157143.

  10. If I need too can I replace the pump with other northstar pumps

    1. Other NorthStar pumps could be used on this system, however they may not be approved for use with bleach if that is the intended purpose.
