    would a 56hp tractor be overkill for this Generator?

    1. This PTO generator can run off a 56 HP tractor as long as the PTO is running at 540 RPM.

    2. mine is 34hp runs easily. Probably waste of fuel with bigger tractor but if it's what you've got. Wont have any issues with running this generator.

  2. what is the maximum rpm this generator can be run

    1. A maximum RPM is not listed because the generator needs to run at the 540 RPM pto speed/3600 RPM rotor speed to produce the 120V/60 Hz cycle output. Anything out of this range will put the Hz and volts out of the standard range.

  3. At what engine rpm will the generator produce its maximum power

    I have a a 30hp kubota tractor that has a minimum 540rpm pto, but I want to know at what rpm I will have to run the motor to get the 13,000 watts?

    1. The maximum power output of 13,000 surge watts and 12,000 rated watts can be achieved as long as it is connected to a tractor rated for a minimum of 24 HP and is equipped with a PTO running at 540 RPM. The RPM of tractors varies, please check with the manufacturer to verify what RPM of the tractor will produce 24 HP.

    2. I think it depends on your tractor. I have John Deere 55 HP tractor, and run in midranged gear at about 2200 rpms to keep it in the green. The indicator on the unit will tell you if you are there.

  4. where can i get a oil seal for gear box. I am leaking oil at the seal.

    1. We no longer offer the M5 spline shaft oil seal (BP31758) or the M5 taper shaft oil seal (BP31767) as parts.

  5. how do you put the back bolt in.the directions tell you how the front bolts go in ,but nothing about the back bolt.

    1. In order to access the two mounting holes, you will need to remove the louvered fan vent panels on both sides.

  6. What size capacitors are required to get 240VAC when run slower for 50hz output?

    1. This generator is designed to operate at a frequency of 59.0 - 63.0 Hertz (Hz). We do not recommend modifying this generator in any way.

  7. Trying to figure out I it has a 50 amp 220v receptacle. It looks like it does just not the lock in type but hoping someone can verify. Also looks like I need a stand and probably a dedicated drive shaft. Anything else I may need to be up and running?

    1. This PTO generator is equipped with a 50 Amp (A) Straight blade (NEMA 14-50R) receptacle. It is designed to mount to a reinforced concrete slab or PTO trailer. A PTO shaft with a 1-3/8" diameter and 6-spline input shaft like item 31919, item 31921 or item 31925 is required. If the generator is to be connected to a building to provide back up power, a transfer switch, installed by a licensed electrician is also required.

    1. This NorthStar PTO generator does not include a 3-point hitch mount. We do not currently offer a 3-point hitch mount for it. This generator can be mounted on a small utility trailer, concrete slab or other structure.
