  1. Is this ok to use with potable water? Like an RV or houseboat.

    1. This pump is not for use with potable water. Please see our item #157101, #157103, and #157104 for on-demand pumps that can be used with potable water.

  2. Is this pump safe to use with sodium hypochlorite?

    1. This pump could be damaged and would void warranty if used to spray sodium hypochlorite (bleach). We do offer bleach pumps, items 157145, 154147, 157153 and 157155.

  3. What length of hose can be used on this pump. We normal have 300'. Will this pump handle that and to what gpm and psi.

    1. This can be used with that length. There would be a large drop-off in pressure if used with 300' of hose.

  4. Small lawn irrigation system

    I have year round spring feeding a 550g storage tank, and I'm looking for a 12v DC pump to drive a sprinkler system for lawn/garden irrigation using this tank as a source. The pump would be drawing the water from this tank (which will be roughly 4' below the pump).

    Given our location and location of the yard, a DC pump seems to make the most sense. I'm assuming it would be running for ~1 hour twice a day. Would this pump fit the bill for this use case?

    1. This is designed as a sprayer pump, it is not recommended for irrigation applications. If the hoses extend beyond 25' long, it could burn up the motor. At this time, Northern Tool does not have a 12V pump for this application.

  5. Is this approved to use with liquid fertilizer?

    1. This pump is made up of Polypropylene, Viton, Stainless Steel and Santoprene. We recommend contacting the manufacturer of the liquid fertilizer to ensure it is compatible with all the materials in the system.

  7. Is this pump compatible with diesel fuel plus agricultural chemicals?

    1. The NorthStar sprayer diaphragm pumps are not compatible with any petroleum products. Pumping petroleum products will damage the pump.

    1. This pump can be used for liquid deicer as long as it has not been used to spray pesticides.

  9. What is the approx GPM @ 25 and 30 psi?

    1. The NorthStar Diaphragm Pump will provide 5.7 GPM @ 40 PSI. A rate at different pressures throughout the curve is not available.
