Heavy-duty NorthStar 7.5 HP, 80-Gallon Electric Air Compressor features 100% continuous-duty rating for long-lasting performance. Belt-driven 2-stage full cast iron pump features V-type cylinder design for superior cooling, Low Vibration Technology (LVT) for smooth operation and floating-type Swedish steel valves for long valve life. Crankshaft has bearings on both ends for excellent support. Features a durable steel belt guard, pressure gauge and remote tank drain. Aftercooler provides dry, high-quality air at the pressure you need, ensuring less wear on your tools. This air compressor must be plugged into an outlet by itself; additional items sharing the outlet will impact the performance of this device.

  1. Does it come with oil so it is ready for use right out of the crate?

    1. Mine did. I am not sure why they do this when they push the use of the startup kit to extend the warranty. The compressor came with oil and an air filter. I bought the startup kit, no I'm good for the next oil change I guess.

  2. Does it come with a power cord and end?

    1. This compressor does not include a cord, it needs to be hardwired by a certified electrician.

    2. This compressor is shipped anchored to a pallet so it can be moved with forks.

  4. What's the maximum amperage draw at start up? Can it be wired to a 60 amp service or does it have to be a 40?

    1. This air compressor draws 40 amps at 230 volts upon start up. As long as the circuit is wired for single phase 230 volt power, it can be wired to a 60 amp circuit. All wiring, grounding and electrical connections must be made by a qualified electrician.

    2. You can always use a larger breaker. I used a 50A breaker. Just make sure you size the wire to handle the breaker rating.

  5. can unit be left on pallet?

    I am going to order this unit and for installation purposes I want to leave unit on shipping pallet. Will this be ok to operate unit this way?

    1. No. It needs a secure surface.

    2. It would not be safe to operate the compressor on the pallet. The pallet would not be strong enough to withstand the vibration of the compressor when it is running. The compressor needs to be securely mounted to the floor.

  7. What kind of oil do I use when changing?  And is the oil supposed to be with or without detergent

    1. We recommend using an SAE 30 non-detergent oil during the break in period. After the first 50 hours, an SAE 30 synthetic oil may be used.
