  1. is this unit contains permanent magnets.

    I would like to transport this unit in my luggage.

    1. It is airline safe but should go as Cargo in the shipping carton or a small crate - the generator head is 53 Lbs. You have to label it as Heavy so nobody hurts themselves or damages it, and "Contains Permanent Magnets."

      The pilot has to be aware of cargo containing magnets - it will throw the compass off. He has to readjust/null the compass before departure to compensate (if possible) and/or rely on GPS and other navigation aids.

  2. is it safe to run as a main power supply for a house?

    I am interested in a generator head replacement for a home made wind generator... The issue i am seeing is that most generator heads are for temporary use only, Is this the case with this unit as well?

    1. This generator head can be used as a back up, standby power source for a building. For this application, it would need to be installed by a licensed electrician. It can also be used as a portable power source where appliances and tools are plugged into the generator's electrical outlets directly. Both applications are meant to be temporary.

  3. Can this run outside in inclement weather?

    1. The generator head is designed to be used in an outdoor location. You will need to choose a location where the generator will not be exposed to rain, snow or direct sunlight. Exposure to water can cause electric shock.

  4. I have a 8 HP BS industrial horizontal gasoline engine.  I’ll be running a 3/4 Hp 240 volt submersible well pump during emergencies only for about 15 minutes, probably no more than 30 minutes.  Can I use the 5KW generator head vs the 2.5 KW generator head

    1. This generator head requires a gas engine rated for a minimum of 11 HP. An 8 HP engine would not be large enough. With the proper engine size, the amperage is still required to determine the wattage needs, which will determine the required generator size for the application. Please use this formula to calculate the needs: Volts x Amps = Watts.

  5. When ramping up the rpm’s for a short period of time or ramping it down does that effect the generator over time?

    1. This generator head is made to operate at 3540-3720 RPM. Rotating the generator at lower speeds will not cause any damage to the generator itself; however, the power output of the generator at slower speeds will not produce the correct voltage. Rotating the generator at higher speeds, may cause a problem and could damage the generator. This will also not produce the correct voltage. If this is referring to the ramp up time from 0 RPM to the operating RPM, it should not cause any harm to the machine as long as the electricity from the generator is not being used at the time.

    1. This generator head is manufactured to an engineering specification of 2000 hours; duty life is affected by the application and environmental conditions.

    1. This generator head is made to operate at 3540-3720 RPM. A hydraulic motor could be used as long as it is able to run at a consistent speed within that RPM range.
