Northern Industrial Welders Reconditioned MIG 135 115V Flux Cored/MIG Welder — 135 Amp Output

The max amperage breaker this can be used with is a 20 amperage breaker.

This welder will not weld aluminum. It is meant for steel or stainless steel. I will list a welder below that can weld aluminum out of the box.

You would first want to have an aluminum welding wire, and second, a shielding gas. Northern Tool does sell aluminum welding wire. See links below. Although Northern does sell empty gas cylinders, the shielding gas would need to purchased locally.

This welder is capable of welding aluminum, it would be fed through the MIG gun. The MIG gun is not Teflon coated.

The actual voltage on the output is not available. There are many factors that can cause the welders output to fluctuate. Some of the reasons are;
1) Quality of Input power - power in is power out
2) The use of extension cords
3) Loose connections create resistance which can affect the quality of output power
4) Condition of cabling

Minimum wattage required would be 2400 watts. Please see my recommendations below for generators that would power this welder.

The MIG 135 is rated at 3/16" single pass capacity. That is using all 135 Amps using a Flux Core Wire. The duty cycle (weld time during a 10 min period) is 20% at 88 Amps. If you are welding at full capacity the duty cycle would diminish significantly. I would approximate about 5% to 10% duty cycle at the top end. That would be one minute of arc on time during a 10 min period. Now, that does not mean that the thermal overload is going to kick in right at one minute. It really varies. It depends on the air temp the machine is operating in. It also depends on how clean all the internal components are and what if anything is restricting the airflow into the unit.

While multiple passes could be used to weld up to 1/2", I would not recommend this unit for that purpose.
