    Does the voltage setting on this welder go low enough so that it will weld like a 120 volt MIG and not burn through thin automotive sheet metal?

    1. will probally go low enough but go to welding supply company and purchase a heat sink putty then it will weld it very well no born through but if its rusty that a whole new ballgame

    2. The unit is specified to weld sheet metal.Although that is a broad term. I would recommend no lighter gage than 24 and you have to be a little more experienced. Iwould suggest to practice first and get a feel for light gaue welding and refrain from prolong heating of the metal. warping is the caution here.

    5. The voltage on this unit can be set low enough to weld automotive sheet metal. It can be set down as low as 24 volts.

  2. How many watt generator do you need to run this portable?

    any suggestions for smallest portable generators that would make it work?

    1. Unless your a professional using this product on a job site I would not recommend using a generator. However you would need a constant duty cycle of around 4000 watts with regulated voltage.

    2. At a minimum you would need a generator with a 220 volt / 15 amp receptacle. You're probably looking at something in the 4000 watt+ range.

    3. The max watts needed to operate this welder is approximately 8,ooo watts. Check out the attached generator for a recommendation.

  3. What kind or brand of mig gun comes with it? What brand of tips fit the difuser?

    1. The gun and welder are both manufactured by the same company to Northern Tool + Equipment specifications. The gun will use your standard Tweco tips. It comes with (2) .030 tips.

    2. Not sure of the brand of gun but it will use any tips that fit Tweco series 11 style guns. This usually includes Northern Industrial, Lincoln, and Clarke portable mig units.

    Is this unit tig capable by adding a manual tig torch with gas valve to the stick output connections?

    1. yes if it has a additional regulater accessory kit that can be purchased for it

    2. This is TIG capable. It would be a scratch start TIG. The weld power on the torch would need a dinse connector.
