Thank you for your inquiry. The smaller version of the vent free heaters do not contain a thermostat due to the BTU size of the unit. In most cases, the unit will not heat a very large area for a long period of time. With interests from customers, we can pass this on to our Product Managers for future developments.

Currently there is no external thermostat for this heater. It contains a high and low setting only.

My Misty heater 10,000 BTU natural gas heater stays on when somebody's in the room but when somebody leaves the room the heater shuts off does it have a built-in motion detector

Does the gas shut off if the pilot light goes out? I am wanting to place this heater in an area that we do not visit routinely to keep water lines from freezing.
